They did him for proceeds of crime, claimed that 40grams was more than personal use, charged him, froze all his assets and off to jail.

In court he showed ATO records showing how much tax he had paid over the last five years but the law is written in such a way that there is no grey area for this, it's take all and you're off to jail.

Yea I went to visit him in the clink and he told me how the day had played out, was quite cereal.

Yep that was the point i was getting at in my reply to ALLMTR: Confiscating a vehicle is not any more effective at stopping someone from driving than confiscating their license - Gumtree and a few hundred/thousand bucks and youre on the road again

i know of one person of lower quality that hasnt had a license for a long time and often drives shit boxes to hoon/drive unlicensed in. has seen jail time too i think (not sure if for offences or unpaid fines). i dont really keep up to date though as i am not his mother, but taking and selling his car wouldnt help too much as vn/vp v6's are quite cheap. probably doing him a favour..

They can not force you they can only charge you with withholding evidence witch needs to be proven in court and if it involves another case the same judge should do both charges AFAIK.
