It was the case many years ago (I caused a small accident when I backed out of a driveway, it was my fault) but like I said that was a long time ago so things so it may well have changed. I was hoping that someone would know for sure.

Laws almost never go away, the general approach being "ah well, that's kinda irrelevant anyway, we'll just ignore it".
New laws, however, keep popping-up.

A few years ago a mate built a new house on street that has a lot of pedestrians. The council made him put in a turntable so he would not have to reverse out of the driveway. (his name is not Bruce Wayne/Batman)

I thought the queensland law was that you were not allowed to reverse into your driveway or reverse out of your driveway I.e everyone with a motor vehicle has a roundabout or two driveways, that is just uncivilised otherwise. Also thought that the law of having someone walk in front of car with flag was when women were driving.
