My Ls1 with tune gets a very consistant 17L/100km around town. Only long trips I have ever done in it (two in total) are down to Wakefeild & back towing 850kg ...fuel econ was about the same.

Eh? My VX LS1 auto wants to hold overdrive with the converter locked up all the way up through the Adelaide tunnels with a 500+ kg trailer+bikes, easily pulls it but I manually kick it back, can't see that being good for the auto.

Our VX gets used for shopping trolley duties and the worst economy I ever saw was 18L/100, the trip computer said average speed of 22km/h or so.
      High 9s on the highway.
12s on the highway with a 7x4 loaded with 2 dirtbikes.
12-15 metro, average speeds 30-40km/h according to the trip computer. Maybe Sydney traffic is a bit slower.

Your numbers are what they are FatBoy, but it still comes as a bit of a surprise to me. I've had some average speeds like that before when the car's been used just for dropping kids at school and still didn't get near 20.

I've got a VY LS1 Auto that tows 1200kg pretty regularly.
I'm in Newcastle, so I know it's not Sydney, but I can get down to low 13's if I'm careful to and from work. Average speed is ususally just under 40. Giving it the odd squirt it's usually around 14.
Towing from my place to the lake and back it's around 17l/100k's.
Towing on the highway 13-14l/100. No trailer on the highway is about 10l/100k's.
THe only time I've got near 20 was when the trailer brakes were dragging.

Auto's work much better if you don't use overdrive when towing.

The owner's manual for the AU Coon says 3rd gear is "capable of 150 +kph".

Towing the cartrailer [550kg] & the Mini [520kg] in 3rd, the car obviously doesn't change up & down all the time between 3rd & 4th in the hilly bits.

needs a big hill to drop it down to 2nd. Fuel consumption is still good.

Sounds like a Barra engined Falcon is what you need, terrific value for money due to no cool SUVness.

Interesting fuel use figures, my heads and cam Ls1 Monaro (6 speed) uses around 17l per 100 in normal heavy Sydney traffic averaging around 25-30 km/h. On the highway it uses around 10l per 100km but that was a decent length trip up the Coast, 99% of my driving in this car is in Sydney traffic or at EC! Off the top of my head, the highest fuel usage on the street I have seen is 21l per 100 km at an average speed of 17km/h... Car has never towed anything though.

Its definitely in the tune, when my car was bolt on only I tried an economy tune done by a mate off the Trackchat forums, still made about the same power as the normal tune I had but in Sydney traffic the car was getting 12l per 100, better than the company car I was driving at the time, a V6 Calais.

My tune must be fucked. It's got some serious stomp though ?

It's always between 20 and 22 ltrs per 100kms in Sydney traffic - drop sub 10 on freeway...

When i first noticed it getting thirsty i was told to change the o2 sensors, did that, made fuck all difference. Probably needs the tune checked but meh, it's going soon anyway. Maybe it's just the constant stop start fucked up traffic, i don't know...
The older i get, the better i was...

how many fpv slash turbo territories did they make? cant be much since they quickly canned the whole idea pretty quick

not much relevance to the general territory population
