They look way bigger then the Gen3 church port;Originally posted by goose View PostIntake ports look a bit smaller than the Gen3/4 ports to accommodate the injectors?

The ports look similar to LS7 ports;

They are, I'm just lazy and couldn't be fucked typing that many letters. Which you've now rendered redundant. Happy?Originally posted by 9triton View Postchurch ports ?
am pretty sure they are refered to as 'cathedral' ports...

Lol! sadly there might be some truth to this.Originally posted by 9triton View PostAmerican after market are probably already designing carb manifolds
Wouldn't that fuck up all of the engineering.I don't care a damn for your loyalty when you think I am right; when I really want it most is when you think I am wrong.

Why's that?Originally posted by mondo2000 View PostYes, you would think the crown and chamber is designed for direct injection, and would ping it's nuts off with anything else.Originally posted by oioioioioiI've never said or implied everyone on that page was a deadshit - just that there's a concentration of deadshits there. I wouldnt say "ping its nuts off".. But they would have optimised it for the direct injection. The piston is nowhere near as radical as, say the mazda direct injection pistons thoughOriginally posted by Rdyno70ynu has to be the most retarded cunt here. The problem is a large piston area (103 mm diameter) and high 11.5:1 compression does tend to induce pinging. The gen 5 3SGE and Honda S2000 engine also run 11.5:1 compression but much smaller pistons so they can get away with it easier. But they still have to run 98 octane fuel.Originally posted by MRMOPARMAN View PostI wouldnt say "ping its nuts off".. But they would have optimised it for the direct injection. I reckon it will take the hot rodding guys about 30seconds to find ways around all this :pOriginally posted by oioioioioiI've never said or implied everyone on that page was a deadshit - just that there's a concentration of deadshits there. I'd dare say blokes might ditch the fancy cam and valve timing thingymajig and then fiddle with the IVC to bleed off some compression. That said, I know of LS motors running 11.5:1 on 98ron. It's not that out there.Originally posted by Billzilla View PostUse 110 octane fuel.
Solved in ten seconds.

The injectors are not in the ports, they are fitted directly into the cylinder head. The port sizing wil have been reduced because with the atomised fuel going direct it is no longer taking up port volume. The designers have more leeway to size the port for the peak torque/hp speed they need.
DI is not new to the Corvette endurance race cars. They raced and won at Le Mans in 2008 and 2009 with Bosch developed, Audi pioneered DI ,on the LS7R.
Running the injection at a max of 100 bar and with pair of circa 32 mm restrictors and 13.5:1 compression ratio on E10, they were good for as much as 580 hp at 5200rpm.Claimed horsepower sceptic.
