FWIW a co worker has a beater old Jackaroo with some sort of rust prevention system fitted (couldn't tell you what brand). It gets used in a corrosive environment and is never washed or garaged.

Rust comes through the paint but it never gets any worse than little bits of surface rust. Whilst from a distance it looks like an absolute rust bucket I cannot find a hole in the bloody thing.

Oh well as long as it only rusts on the outside of the metal, I'm sold.

I'm with Muz, these things only work if you have an energy polariser and a Hi-clone.

can you stack them for extra protection like condoms and hi-clones?

Im not saying these things definitely work but I fitted a cheap electronic rustproofing kit to my Surf a few years back and after sliding over some rocks one of the rails had a bunch of deep gouges in it down to the metal and after a few beach trips there wasnt any notable rust, the scratched metal was still shiny. Did it work? Dunno. Maybe.

Weren't British cars of the 60's 70's wired with a positive earth to prevent corrosion by making the body the anode?

one of my shonky painter mates always earths the car to the steel shed when he sprays in garages, reckons it kills off any dust attracting static.

no idea why i added that, but maybe theres something going on with all these funky electrons?

There is such a thing as electrostatic spray but there is an electrode attached to the metal item being painted and a voltage generator charges the paint at the end of the gun.
