good point, wasn't thinking..Originally posted by blownhemi View PostWhich would have been the steel tailshaft.
I was always udner the impression that the performacne ones came with a two piece... I remember someone saying the NT delivered cars had a 2 piece tailshaft due to no speed limits on teh open road... going back to teh EA they were a double walled single piece, but cost cutting set in and speed limiters were cheaperOriginally posted by myshortyboombaI've had many gauges in cars. I always found the conrods react faster than a gauge.
you can always hear them when they break and they stop the engine immediately so you can't do any more damage.

A few people reckon the cop cars came with aluminium shafts but I checked under one I found at the wreckers it had a steel shaft. I actually considered getting an alloy shaft from a wagon to get it cut down for the 13s for $1300 Falcon but it proved unecessary (ie: it didn't explode).

I think that car was lowered to hell, and the shaft had been rubbing on the floor for ages. (if its the car im thinking of?) and it was a steel one as someone already mentioned.Originally posted by Fraud View Postthere was a guy a few years ago who was developing a chip for the EF/EL and removed the speed limiter.. single piece tailshaft let go while pushing the resulting high tailshaft RPM, made a real fuckin mess of everything.

Have stripped out what was left of an AU XR8 ute, aluminium tailshaft let go and took out the fuel tank. Essentially what was left was the engine (except the intake manifold) and the gearbox.www.DRIVENFX.com Performance Engine Building, Auto Electrical (Wiring Looms, ECU Installs, Diganoses and Repair), Custom Automotive Electronics, Car Preparation, Car Setup, Trackside Services,

psi999 on here got a 3" aluminium tailshaft with brand new unis delivered from Texas in about 5 business days for about $600. I was going to use them too, but Al was able to organise a new 3.5" mild steel shaft locally on the Sunshine Coast.
3.5" shaft with spicer 1350 & 1310 uni's (Nissan Titan 32 spline slip yoke and Nissan R200 Flange)

happy to pass on my contact details for the bloke i dealt with.
