    RVK355 is a crazy bastard!

Mondo giving the 355 hell at the speedway city burnout comp on the weekend - 8600rpm the whole time from a holden donk:

& then Justin trying to kill the little 253 that could, valve float at 8200rpm, so he dropped the revs back to 7800 - on a wet sump, cast piston 253:

thumbs up for one sweet sounding engine!

    nothing like a 8000rpm + revving

I can't take the credit for mondo's engine - I just do the machining, prep the heads & shit, he built the dry sump setup & does his own assembly.
Got that thing well sorted now, it's just got a harrop cast crank, scat rods & beat up SRP slugs in it, 4-bolt mains & massive overkill dry sump setup.

Have seen RVK at gazzanats. Sounds angry and does like a hard time

He had a thread here some time ago when getting the dry sump sorted after killing an engine from big revs. Last gazzanats I had a quick chat, said I liked that instead of backing off the revs a bit he dry sumped it. He just shrugged his shoulders, saying he had to do something to step it up against the supercharged boys.

Was considering going out to one of the speedway city burnout events, if they get guys like RVK turn up sounds like they might be decent events.

EDIT: Just253 does a pretty decent job at it too!

That is fucking madness. Sounds bad ass. But why wasnt there a rev limiter? It sounded like he held it at that rev limit solid.

Rev limiters upset the valve train, mondo had it set at 8900rpm so he didn't bump it.

WOT & it'll rev to where it'll rev is how he does it, up 500rpm since the freshen, we bumped comp to 13:1, I had camtech grind another cam for it & I tweaked up the intake a little, the extra high rpm power lets it rev out more.

So is it a roller or flat tappet? What valve clearances does he use?

Solid flat tappet - rollers are no good in burnout motors, if you valve float them you can kill a lifter pretty quick, which can get real messy, flat tappet is simpler, lighter & more forgiving.
