I was wondering today; if you paid cash, could you get the price down to the equivalent of RRP minus what you'd usually pay on normal interest rates?
Or are they being as refusey about negotiation as when they're making less profit per car than they are at current AU$ RRP?
Soft roaders represent an excellent compromise between the needs of the hardcore 4x4 user and the convenience of a city hatchback. Its clear to see why they have become so popular in todays society.

Dunno but Dad just picked up a new Kia Rio base model 3dr for $14750 cash, it was advertised for $15990 less $1000 Myers Voucher, they give you the Myers voucher straight off no problem but would'nt move much more on that.

So lets say you picked the Kia up for $14990 at there .09% interest rate 100% financed it would cost you $318pm ($73pw) over 4yrs, and you will have paid $274 interest over that time

Put / keep that $14990 cash in the bank for 4yrs and at 5%pa you'd make something like $3000 in interest

I guess my question relates to the fact that they'd usually be making that $3000 out of you, so therefore could you negotiate the $3k off the purchase price.
It sounds like the answer is no; the importers are probably still selling to their dealers at the same price and pocketing the exhange-rate related windfalls, so the dealer's not able to go down any further than usual.

I see what your saying but in Econo boxs like the Kia rio or I presume what she'd be buying you cannot negotiate the price down much more for cash anyway, we only got another $250 off when Dad bought for cash.....you Might...MIGHT...have got $500 off if you were a cunt, but as it was everyone walked away happy, and the dealer has been great to my Parents.

I got a 2.9% finance deal on my Amarok, the dealer still negotiated on price, I got a $1000 off, but I could not use my Corporate discount, which I think on Amarok was only 1.5% anyway? (if so $675) so I still think im ahead

Fiat punto sport, 1.9Td or 1.4t petrol, comes in manual, auto or the farking stupid dual-logic (manual box, completely automated, no clutch pedal, constantly tells you "illegal operation". Wouldn't own one if you held a gun to my head!)
Built on some GM platform. Under 10s 0-100 claims, mainly 3dr hatch but I think there are 5drs available with those motors, all safety stuff etc. should be able to pick one up for $12kish.

I work on fiats, have had sweet fuck all of them come in for repairs, servicing only. Only drama could be parts availability due to import rights changing hands earlier this year.

How much would insurance likely cost for the caldina? She likes it but is worried about insurance.

The cube is kinda cool. But I think I would rather drive a Caldina. nopics seems exited about getting the Caldina now. We don't want something obviously ricey like a WRX. But in reality it does suit the requirements. Liberty is getting too big. But how big is a Caldina?
