Don't knock the charades, they still make an excellent hot hatch. No need for a turbo with a 1600 under the bonnet to be honest. A late model fiesta weighs about 1100kg. A G100/200 charade weighs about 800kg. The idea of buying a cheap charade and a cheap applause and transfering the parts over is a brilliant IMHO. Sure a charade may not be everybody's cup of tea, but that doesn't mean it's a bad idea.

As for old cars being more accomodating for larger drivers - not necessarily true. The cabin in an AE112 corolla is bigger in every dimension than an EH Holden for example.

very true. a modern corolla would have more space than any of the pre 71 ford/holden/chrysler etc cars.

HR Holden. Old, fucking simple to work on, spares aplenty, great cruiser.

Whatever you do buy a complete car and make sure all the brightwork is present and reasonably straight.

Forget about old Crowns and Cedrics/anything old and Japanese. You're fighting with cunts like me who have been acquiring shit for over 20 years in order to get a manageable set of spares.

Even when I (5 11") sit in an old Japanese car my head is adjacent with the B pillar or i'm looking out of the rear door window....Marco would be in the boot.

This is exactly why he needs a bench seat ute

if only two seats needed, triumph spitfire? small, dead simple, fair bit of room (especially if you bolt the seats down further back).
mine's been fine electrical and reliability wise - admittedly i re-wired it though

Is there such a thing as a Spitfire that doesn't need more than the budget immediately spent on paint & rust repairs?

And if going there ... how big is a fully rewired SD1?
Soft roaders represent an excellent compromise between the needs of the hardcore 4x4 user and the convenience of a city hatchback. Its clear to see why they have become so popular in todays society.

Now there is a fucking good idea! My grandad had an HR and I reckon they are a very cool and undervalued bus. They look mafia spec dumped on their guts and like GT said, really easy to work on.

There were some lovely examples at 10K. Be more maintenance/tidy up rather than full blown resto like the two I originally posted. Would recommend spending the extra to have a decent going concern rather than some shitter sitting in the garage for years.

But that pair seem a fuck ton better buy than anything else that has the flat brim/bogan dore love/desirable tax on them.

Dad had a Hg, really like the shape of that series.
