It gets better; the wagon was unique to Australia so the number still around must be single digits by now.

According to a French website I came across last night, only 900 were built and their estimate was less than 20 known remaining examples.

tthe simcas popularity reflects its price - no one would think its a reall collectable - hence the $1500.

if it was a early 60's ford/holden wagon - and reg /driveable etc in that condition you would be looking at circa $5000

is that the same as that simca thats always at the nats? the one that looks like a rusty shitbox but has some awesome motor?

at one point split screen kombis were "not real collectable"

plus some crazy rich french guy might give you $lots for it to put it in a museum one day....

                  cool car

IIRC chrysler were importing some simcas in the early 70's direct from france - as knock down kits + body shells. and pumping them out as chysler centuras

due to the french atomic bomb testing at Muraroa atoll in the pacific, the wharf unions got involved and as a protest against the french ,embargoed all french product - so they got unloaded off the ship and put in a corner of the port - and never got cleared for something like EDIT :3 years

ended up helping to drive the nail in chysler australias coffin as they ened up with lost sales , rust and was probably the end of the last simcas in aust.

Darren Ponton, of the City of Perth, wrote that, just before the Chrysler Centura arrived in Australia, the French conducted nuclear tests in the South Pacific. The Australian Waterside Workers Union banned on handling French products, and the newly elected Labour Government were sympathetic (or didn't want to upset them) so the bodies were left on the wharves until 1974 when the tests stopped (for a while). As result of all that "sea air" many Centuras started rusting before they were built!

I'm really tempted to throw a bid on and just roll the dice, it's cheap and cool. But it's a long way from here so can't eyeball it and can't drive it home. Mrs not keen on lack of seat belts either.

Are old Saabs a headfuck, anyone? I presume yes times infinity?

Never mind, just remembered I sat in one years ago and didn't fit. Long legs, it's a curse when you're not also a supermodel.
