Yeah, probably. I don't have any real timeframe on this. But I can't say I'm that worried about it - either something will come up that works for me, or I'll get to a point where I chuck the whole idea in.

Just a thought. A V8 Commodore to go with your V8 Commodore.

Holden were hilarious with their interiors, weren't they?
I was thinking about those things yesterday, as some young guy pulled out of the flOptus building on the way home in a bone-stock (even down to the beige/bone colour) automatic Exec ... the rear window blinds were period-correct, he had it wrong putting whitewalls on it, but he even had a complete set of Exec hubcaps.
Unfortunately it still sounded like a 202; that white one would at least sound decent! What was Holden's slogan for the 253 - "performance of a 4, sounds like an 8!"?
Soft roaders represent an excellent compromise between the needs of the hardcore 4x4 user and the convenience of a city hatchback. Its clear to see why they have become so popular in todays society.

                  Has a VW/Porsche 924 been mentioned yet?

No, but I'm all ears. I was a huge fan of the 944 as a kid and they're almost in this price range now (more like $8k but still...) and IIRC isn't the 924 same same but not as good?

On the other hand - the most expensive Porsche is a cheap one

Nah, I was window shopping for a 928 S4 (when I start a thread on that hunt it will be longer than this one) on Gumtree and noticed quite a few sub $5k 924.

I reckon if the body is straight the rest should be pretty affordable to own and manage. It's all VW and Audi parts bin stuff, will have the usual ancient car wear and tear to suspension bushes and stuff, but over should be a bit more everyday useable compared to an ancient bug?

You can get a $5k 928 and spend $25k on it and end up with a $10k car. A 924 is a very nice thing on its own.

i remember with 928's they'd come into the shop and we'd politely suggest they go elsewhere..

I'm looking at the $30-40k mark, at that bracket there's shit buckets and much loved well maintained and semi-restored options.

The 924 would be a nice simple thing I reckon, a good compromise between cost and uniqueness.

Marco I just read the Ad for that Martini - it needs a lowball and the owner to provide the passed roadworthy .

Would be a unique car to have and hang onto for a few years given the build plaques etc but not be super hard to fix up over time. At least you can do touchups on the body easy thanks to it being white...

I'd be interested but 928 is where my heart is at..
