You know "everyone" says that about any Porsche 924/944/928.

I can't see how much worse it could be than a Corvair, a Humber or even my Lynx. Each of these have problems with parts availability, difficulty with getting some info on maintaining etc. in fact I'd say the Porsche would be easier than the Lynx for about everything...

Why's that? Pretty well every 924 currently for sale is about that price.

Looking at the specs, fuck they're slow though. Any recent 2 litre hatchback would give a 924 a traffic light pasting.

Admitededly that 924 is pretty neat, but it's still a 924. I just can't see them reaching that cool status. They're not chrome bumpered and were the epitome of buying for the badge and the badge only back then.

Yeah it would drive much nicer than a beetle...but that's not the point. It still doesn't do anything particularly well and will not turn heads like a beetle, it's just an old car with no particular pedigree or character.

Point is that it's a slow Porsche, which is a bit like a Land Rover that can't go off road or a ute which can't carry stuff. Whereas you expect a bug or whatever to be slow, noisy, smelly etc.

Still like it, just saying its slow.
