Spot on. Well at least as far as max performance when breaking is concerned.

We've had many a thread on this one before.

Even Mark Skaife weighed into our debate once too.

(Not that your opinion is not worthy Glenno :D)

        +2....

My old man always drilled into me that brakes are cheaper and easier to replace than gearbags...

Because most older cars have shitty brakes.

Still never got around to this, does back spinning a planetry, and in turn the converter splines being loaded in reverse cause undue effects, does it under spin the oil pump etc in something like a th400? Lets say being in top gear and just backing off the throttle and coasting, I imagine the engine at idle rpm = input shaft at nearly idle, and thus not adequately lubricating planetry gears, unicorns and rainbows that make automatics work?

                Yes, it fucks them.

No it doesn't. They have heaps of lube with the input spinning at idle.

Towing with the engine not running is different if there is only a front pump which is almost everything these days.

Am I the only one who keeps wondering whether dogsballs is setting-up some sort of underbonnet meth lab?
Soft roaders represent an excellent compromise between the needs of the hardcore 4x4 user and the convenience of a city hatchback. Its clear to see why they have become so popular in todays society.

Was it the 'breaking bad' heading?

I snapped a billet input shaft on a built 65e doing it.
Rolling down my street doing around 40kph 6 or so doors from my house when a kid ran out on the road after a football. Out of reflex I jumped on the brakes and slammed the shift down from 3rd to first and swerved around him. Parked the car up and spoke to his dad who was freaked out as you do. Anyway went to drive the car no dice.

And I doubt it's a blanket rule either.

Your engine breaking is definitely bad for your engine.
