Regarding the bottle of Wine, it would only be covered for the contents limit of the car depending on who are you insured with.

Shannons policy state you get first option of salvage no matter the age of the car, if the car is not over 35 yrs you can request it be applied but it will increase the premium. It will also depend on someone higher than the phone person you talk too allowing it to happen on the policy.

All mods are listed, the guy on the phone (at Shannon's) was a member of Toymods and knew my car before I'd even finished listing the mods. He simply cut and pasted the mods listed in the first post.

My car is also engineered and I drive it 100% as per the engineering mods.

If someone hits me and my car is written-off, I get the 10K and first rights to buying back the wreck. If the accident is my fault, then the same will happen.
what about if you burn your car and fake your own death

Old mate had salvage rights but was under the impression the phone jock he was assigned was keen or had someone keen on the driveline which run some good times. And it is correct, Brendan, owner of 2ANGRY also owned STR8AZ which was stolen whilst still loaded on tow car. Tow car was found but no word on VK..

Best way to get an answer for your insurance questions is to jump onto the insuarnce company websites and read the PDS. May take a little while, but at least the answer is there in black and white. As for salvage on cars with Shannons, you have first choice of buy back (Value amount to be decided by the assessor depending on damage) no matter what the age of the car, and there is no additional cost to the premiums (it is a standard policy benefit). Any car over 35 years of age however gets "Automatic Salvage Rights", which means you get the wreck of the vehicle back at no cost, i.e. you do not have to purchase it back. This can be applied to more modern vehicles, but is on a case by case bases...this would incur an additional premium though.

IMO the real issue is the conflict between the obligation on the owner to maintain the car in a roadworthy condition and the disclosure to the insurer of all modifications, some/all of which are not roadworthy.

Remember, if the full value of your $10,000 bottle of wine is not covered under you own car insurance (it won't be), AND the other parties insurance declines to indemnify you for it, you always have the option of taking the at fault person to court for the loss.. If they are negligent, they are basically responsible for your loss.
