you are thinking of wheels mate.

All the stuff I have done with motor over the years, trust me, they try every avenue to get the fastest possible numbers. It's sucks dick standing out there in the freezing cold at wakefield/wsid/cootamundra airport while they do run after run after run

The 1/4 times are done with GPS boxes, not the WSID timing gear, so you don't get roll out etc, I don't know if it does 60ft can't remember. All the dudes can steer very well too.

I did a shoot with a 911 Turbo S, Shaun the journo ended up running a 10.8 @ 127 in a standard car on a wicked wednesday lol. Made a cool story, should bring some of those ones back.

I was there that night running my F6, didn't they get booted off the track?

So the editors of both Wheels and Motor have moved on.
Have new German owners slashed budgets now?

SPEED mag, things were better in the olden days. Give MOTOR a similar angle and I'll be back. But I guess the general public didn't like reading about builds, hence why the mag was closed in the first place (or other reasons?). All the best with it Bock von Babelsberg.

Yep, I think they changed the rules recently now, you can go faster than 11's now? Was a recent "common sense" rule or something similar.

Time flies eh? Still pissed off that Speed was canned, the mag was a great read, so much better then the import mags of today.

Scotty got it - I'm the rage-aholic FONC who screams at people when their words are shit, or they're late in, etc.

Note: nobody has snapped more keyboards or smashed phones in fits of blinding rage than I did at ADB. Dirt bike contribs drive me to drink.

Definitely stuff like that is on the cards.

yes, because print is dead and Bauer need a huge ROI

Actually, Bauer are "aggressively investing" in all the "brands" in 2013... whatever that means. Everyone has had a haircut in the last few years, but that is the way in an industry where circs are down - Bauer is incredibly top-heavy with management and overhead costs so a lot of the cost-cutting will come from those areas.

Nah, ad revenue was the main reason SPEED closed down. It wasn't the right mag at the right time. Now? Who is to say it won't work.

Also curious about this, ran into Mr Evans at an event at Eastern creek once and he managed to convince me to subscribe to his Tarmac mag back at launch, its still getting sent to my address to this day as its a great read and the cars featured are ones im likely to see not only on the telly but on the track racing right next to me.

Anyway he seemed like a perfectly nice bloke so i cant imagine why anyone would have a beef with him.

Well done on the promotion Dr goebbels and I hope it lasts longer than the speed gig, i also cried a little into my beer when that mag ended its run but obviously the pain on your end must have been greater.
now if only you can slowly nudge 'Motor' towards what Speed was doing so well..either way it sounds like theres going to be some improvements, will keep an eye on it and pick up the phone to get it sent to Surry Hills if things really pick up!

On a serious note, any serious hard hitting stories about the stupidity of speed cameras and lack of proper driver training in this country?

Ps: look at EVO's Android version and make the Motor one like that....
Thanks for the tip - Amac's new gig is with the Drive.com.au team. Working from home saves him a 5hr daily commute, so I can see the attraction for him.

Premature hair loss, raise in blood pressure, early induction into the Jack Marx Social Club for Alcoholic Journalists, getting yelled at by my publisher a lot, getting yelled at by contributors a lot, getting yelled at by Highway Patrol a lot and getting yelled at by Harold Scruby a lot... that's probably the best points I can think of.

Without giving too much away, yes. For all other questions about editorial content the answers are: Yes. No. Three-times a week. Metallica. A slight taste of pumpkins.
