Iirc a few journos found out that it's abit more big brother then they would like. Something about doing a burnout in the CTS-V and getting call asking if the car was stuck as it was showing max RPMs but not moving! Or something along those lines. I know a number of guys in the US who remove the onstar stuff, and a couple of government agencies who delete the stuff as well.

Edit: Didn't Holden offer Onstar at one stage? Might have been on the VX/VZ.

(and incidentally, a service I had on the MINI a few weeks after doing 220+ in it, the service guy said "someone's been having some fun" when he put the key in the reader that they get the vehicle information out of.....)

This would explain why Mazda constantly used to ask me if I was tracking my car...
