Also no rear overhang like a Triton=win

Really capable vehicle and easier to fit huge tyres than the standard Hilux, Prado and FJ Cruiser(swb Prado)
can you post some pics when you lift it mate?

with a diesel you generally dont want to go over 500c. i forget what petrol engine temps can get (its in my old trade school notes) but iirc they can get to and upwards of 1000c?

What about diesels with a DPF? They get extremely hot when
        Doing a burnoff

with or without DPF, a diesel could set fire to long grass anyway. it was a dud point.

If the Prados/Hilux/FJ had the option of a decent diesel it'd be worth butthurting about, something like the 3.0 V6 turbo diesel in the Navara or the one in the Grand Cherokee.

                  Cons:
that massive pillar gives me the shits
                  petrol only
                  auto only
                  ifs
                  no room inside
                  look like a girl's car

                  pro:
crawl control in the latest edition
                  standard rear diff lock
traction control now works in the front even if the diff lock is engaged.
plenty of off the shelf aftermarket stuff.
will do 90% of the tracks and gives the patrols/cruiser recovey practice on the other 10%

I like the look of them, but I really would prefer a diesel for economy..

From an owner on the forums

59.72 litres 505.6 Kms = 11.81 Litres per 100 kms Suburban and off road on shell 91 octane
45.88 litres 375.8 kms = 12.21 Litres per 100 kms Suburban and off road on shell 91 octane
27.62 litres 245.9 kms = 11.23 Litres per 100 kms Suburban and off road on shell 91 octane
36.40 litres 314.8 kms = 11.56 Litres per 100 kms Suburban half shell 91 and half shell 95 octane
                    40.82 litres 347.9 kms = 11.73 Litres per 100 kms Suburban Country and 120 K's Towing shell 95 Octane
                    19.38 litres 145.0 kms = 13.28 Litres per 100 kms All towing

FJ and Prado share their wheelbase (2790) - thing is fitting huge tyres is not something you need , i see it to be equivalent of cars with 22 inch rims - fashion before function.

Had anyone mentioned the tiny payload? 500kg doesn't get you very far. Sorry didn't read 4 pages.

Seems to be fine for all the Patrol owners?

The Patrol has 605kg, which is more than a prado but still far from adequate. One set up and loaded for touring will nearly certainly be over.

Four fat adults has the potential to put one of these things over.

Do the front ends still have cracking problems? Haven't heard about it for years.

                              '02 twin-locked TD42 GU Patrol
