That was intended to be my point; they've not really been allowed to do anything which would get them any loyalty & repeat-business, the Ford business-model overall seems almost like the one Toyota were milking for years and have recently decided is a bit of a dead-end so they're trying to ... well, 86 that model.Originally posted by Marco_VESS View PostCan it though, anymore? All that loyalty and repeat business is on track to see about 9000 Falcons sold this year. That used to be about two months worth of sales.
Except Ford never had the reliability/quality.
In Europe they seem allowed to do things customers find interesting.
I guess Americans think Mustangs are interesting?
Did you intend italics? I can't tell ...Originally posted by MZ21 View PostNo doubt if you rocked up to a dealer to with a bag full of 100 dollar notes, they'd still ask full rrp for a Falcon.
There were a couple threads around the end of last year, I think one started with saying how $40k for an Optima was good value ... but some CarSales searches showed new XR6T's could be bought for $40k onroad and new Ecoboost G6's (so a very well-specc'd car that's not even all that thirsty) for $27k or thereabouts. Those are massive discounts, to shift cars just because they were 2012 plated; imagine if people were buying Golf GTI's or Focus ST's for about $25k there'd be three-year waiting lists!Soft roaders represent an excellent compromise between the needs of the hardcore 4x4 user and the convenience of a city hatchback. Its clear to see why they have become so popular in todays society.

FORD fans are rushing dealerships to buy one of the last Falcons before the model is axed, a reaction similar to that which followed the end of the V8 Falcon in 1982.
Thursday's announcement that Ford would close its local factories in 2016 is "bringing buyers out of the woodwork" rather than causing an expected drop in demand.
"My phone hasn't stopped ringing," said Ford salesman Hamilton Urquhart, who has sold more than 300 Falcon GTs over the past 10 years from one of the country's oldest Ford dealerships, established at Penrith in Sydney's west in 1963, just three years after Falcon production began.
"Contrary to what many people were expecting, the announcement looks like it will actually flush out all of those people who've been putting off buying a car," he said. "It really is bringing buyers out of the woodwork."2 fucking calls!! FUCK ME! ITS A FUCKING GOLDRUSh!! BaAHAHHHAHAH"I've already taken two calls this morning from customers saying `sign me up for the next limited edition'," said sales manager Ben Ruxton.
