hmmm logically -
If the engine was stolen - you would expect them to ask you in the next couple of days where you got it from.
If the car has been resprayed, and hasn't been rego'd in SA yet - It's possible that the rego instpector has no idea what they are looking at, and suspects that the numbers have been altered.
I'd certainly be noting any losses/money spent investigating why they have seized it... did they give you any paperwork for them taking possession of the car?
