its 5", so it takes the discs from my work
    variable speed
    feels solid
HEAAAAPS better switch than the makitas im used to
    heaps longer lead
    3 year warranty
    $25!!

only downsides is its slightly heavier and bulkier than the makita.

I've had 2 decent offs in my Alpinestars leathers and none of the leather has been compromised. Personally I'd happily pay the extra to not deal with weeks of rush healing, but each to their own.
I only posted it to alert people to it, not saying its top notch shit, i was thinking more the hardware ramps stand locks etc might be handy + perhaps some of the clothing as cheap stuff that gets left at work as back up stuff if the weather changes, perhaps even a back helmet in case you do something stupid with it like cam did

Not having a go at anyone in particular, and if you guys want to wear it so be it, the fact remains you are no less susceptible to being involved in an accident riding to and from work as anywhere else.

Even brand name shit can be crap though Jez, look at the way that strap tore out of Nick's Dainese jacket, or the 2 pairs of Alpine Stars GP gloves that just dry rotted apart after 12 months... Or my Alpinestars boots that all the rubbery bits just crumbled away on...
"Where can we get hold of a Vincent Black Shadow?" "Whats that?" "A fantastic bike," I said. "The new model is something like two thousand cubic inches, developing two hundred brake-horsepower at four thousand revolutions per minute on a magnesium frame with two styrofoam seats and a total curb weight of exactly two hundred pounds."

Bought my first Alpinestars jacket in about 02. RJays was very very different then. Someone gave me an RJays expandable rack bag for Christmas and I rate it.

I can't defend Nick's dress jacket or your gear, my 8 year old GP gloves are still fine and so are nopix 5 year old GP gloves. Maybe it's something you're cleaning or treating them with or maybe everything is shit now and you should buy $10 gardening gloves from bunnings?

Same period of GP gloves Jez, one pair got written maybe 10 times and just rotted in the cupboard. Didn't treat then with anything, didn't clean then, didn't sweat in them. The first pair I had lasted ages, probably 2001 to 2007, then 2 shit pairs, bought a pair of Clovers, haven't looked back. Oh, and some of the stitching on my 2 year old AlpineStars jacket is unravelling.
Can't fault my 11 year old Spidi leathers or my 12 year old Dririder Pirelli Evo jacket...

Did you contact alpinestars? I would think they would probably do something?

Give me an example of cheaper gear failing at the first sign of road rash? I had a stack from top of 1st in my TLR an my no name jackets and pants were fine. Im not advocating the cheaper stuff but I'd like to see some example before people start saying its rubbish based on price alone. Not so long ago anything4wd that wasnt ARB was "china rubbish" that couldnnt survive a day on an easy track, bit more honest nowadays though..

One of the guy's I rode with had a joe rocket 1pce open up from armpit to boot at 90 down at the Oxley, my old housemate had a no name jacket split down the arm at T4 at QR, and a friend was in Glen Innes hospital ICU for a month after her KBC helmet strap failed and came off (incidentally I did it up) and she lost some breast tissue as well due to her RJays jacket opening along the zipper. Probably the reason I'm a little touchy on the subject. Have also seen cheap gear hold up well, but for me it's not worth the risk.

Mark aka Rotaute and I used to stunt ride 40+ hours a week. This leads to many many stacks. I've been though just about every glove known to man. I was given some cheap gloves by a now closed shop. One pair of Rjays one pair of shift low cut supermoto gloves. The first low speed ~20kph stack saw the end of the Rjays gloves. The shift gloves wore out in about 4 weeks on the finger tips. I must of had 15+ pairs of Alpinestars gloves over the years and most of them have held up quite well. Like Gammaboi has said I have found A-stars GP gloves to be hit and miss. None have ever failed in a crash but I have found the finger tips wear out quickly.

                        Jackets.
I've had a good 80+klm off in a Rjays jacket. While it held up ok I couldn't use it again as all the seems on the arms had come apart. I have seen the leather rip apart on another Rjays at what I would guess to be 80ish kph stack on a smooth runway.
I've stacked in my GPstars Jacket at +80kph 3 times and countless times at ~20kph its 100% fine other than some rash. The leather cost me a stupid amount of money but it was worth it.
My Shift textile jacket held up very well to low speed stuff but I am not sure how much I'd like to come off at speed with it on.

What brand of helmet was Corey wearing when he needed his jaw wired for 12 months?

Getting back to helmet safety for a sec. If you want to be sure then get something Snell M2010 approved. It's not all about $$$$. My $80 Answer Comet MX helmet meets it as does my $700 Arai. Some helmets only meet it in certain sizes. A lot of stuff that meets the Australian Standard isn't there.

No. Driving an esky along the footpath will be the end humanity. This must be stopped.
"Lol!! The son of satan will rideth thine esky, wearing nought but the beater of wives and the double secured half sandle, and he will wave his hands in great mirth ushering in the end of all mankind"

Also remember you could have the best helmet in the world but if it isn't a good fit for YOUR head, you'd be better of with a cheaper helmet that IS a good fit.

There is almost no correlation between price and quality in 2013 so check the gear out and make up your own mind.

Discussing the quality of different brands in an era of wholesale toll manufacturing in china is crazy imho.
