Yeah well in a country that gives little or no support to its poor, its quite easy for the rich people to have great services and all the fancy stuff.

A good show to watch is 'Toughest place to be...' The one on the Indonesian garbage collector is eye opening. Thailand would be the same. Wonder how much Fondles pays his bin man?

They reckon it would not need much fuel at the wrong time as it only bent the rods and not kick them out, either way it is too late to prove the theory.

Ford Thailand rang me and offered a 30% discount on all parts to get it back on the road...... seems to me they know they are in the wrong.

        Don't mention the adBlocker !!

Yeah this sounds plausible. Next problem is if you are keeping the fuel system and electronics, it could happen again... Shame it's impossible to find out now. Might be worth getting the injectors checked or new ones??

My cousin thought it would be fun to belt thru a 15cm puddle in his diesel Tojo numerous times at high speed whilst playing at the sand dunes. After about a dozen passes his motor died, yeah Hydro locked from 15cm of Water !! speed woulda been around 80kmh. rebuild build came in around $6.5K.

I have no sympathy for Fwits, I grew with numerous creek that flooded regularly and like clock work some Fwit would go thru, stall and fuck the motor, oftem swept off the bridge. Driving thru 30-40cms slowly and briefly is acceptable, but 60-80cm without a tarp is lunacy !! without one your fiewall will only act as a rebound wall and the 60cm will actually fill underneath the bonnet with only moderate speed.

Stalled my Valiant twice in 60-70cm water on the 2011 shitbox Rally.

Ran better after that. 265 ftw!

If the shutdown throttle activated with the engine still running it will suck water back through the exhaust (if it is submerged). UG coal diesels with wet scrubber/flame trap exhausts can do this if the emergency inlet shutoff is used.

No way would a full open or wrongly timed injectors cause that. It would have sounded like it was running on rocks even slightly too advanced and wouldnt have run anywhere else. They are only like 17:1cr anyway. To hydraulic the engine driving through flood water due to another cause it pretty far fetched.

Fixed. Seriously who thought it was a good idea to let this troll back?

For us uneducated, how much fluid do you need to add to the cylinder to hydro lock it? Is it different petrol to diesel too? Like is it 25/50/75/100% full of fluid to make it lock????

Assuming a 600cc cylinder at 17:1 comp that'd make the unswept volume around 37.5cc.
So you'd need at least 38cc to hydro it.
                          Not much really.

Depends on how much inertia you have at the time and how strong the weakest part is. It isn't going to happen instantaneously with fuel, the exhaust valve still opens every second revolution. The example 38cc would take a fair few revolutions to inject hence the theory of having to drive through significant pain to get that far.

Every short motor Ive bought from Ford and Mazda has not had an engine number. These have all been Mondeo/Focus/Fiesta short blocks. Ive had to finish the job then send the customer to a police station to get a surrogate engine number. Usually takes 4-6 weeks to get the engine number sorted.
