for what its worth i test drove a stock dual cab version when waiting for the 86 to get serviced

it walked up any hill i pointed it at around indooroopilly in brisbane in 4th gear, loads of torque,

but lacked straight line speed, and was no different to any of the work 75 series work trucks ive had and the turning circle is huge.

i plan to buy one in the wagon format for a family bus next year....

There is cruisers and then there is softroaders. That's why they are 80k. They have bulky parts, because they are 100% work cars, mod cons sans. A hilux, pathfinder, patrol are all a compromise on ruggedness for comfort.

There's a reason they seem old fashioned, it's a proven formulae

Ladder chassis, live axles, diesel motor.

They've had to make some concessions such as airbags and emissions compliance but with the exception of coils in the front fuck all has changed in 50 years.

Should some bastard steal or smash into my 60 I'll replace it with one of these.

so tell us a place where a 70 series would go that say, a softroader pajero/patrol/defender/disco etc wouldnt be able to get to?

tired strung out old line is tired and bullshit.

its not so much about the car (up to a point), but how you set them up.

I see more landcruisers with 1000L diesel tanks and service boxes on the tray running around sites than I do anything else.
I think they are awful value for money but the blokes who buy them clearly haven't got to where they are by being idiots with their money so they must do something right? And to be honest, would you put 1500kg the back of a Navara/Triton/Hilux/Ranger and drive it off road every day?

Would love to know how much fat is in them for Toyota, they must make a fucking fortune because they dont look overly expensive to make compared to a Hilux.

Id love it mainly for towing and some off-road duties, but have the convenience of a tray.

When you think about it....is this better value?

Its 2 door/seater, has leather and all the luxury bits, but I never understood 80k for a 2 seater 2wd ute.

With a braked towing capacity of 1600kg's what would you tow with it other than a box trailer ?

                        Don't mention the adBlocker !!

If you are towing that much all the time you are better off with a truck

No arguments from me, but we don't use trucks.

If u were going to spend 80k you would be better off with a cut down 200 GXL petrol. Yes petrol with a bullit super charger kit. Much much better option in my opinion. More reliable, as much towing grunt as the diesel, long term probably cheaper to run, and a fuck load nicer to live with every day.
3 broken mitsubishi's (fuck im stupid)
                              camry (daily)
                              200 series cruiser (wifeys)

80k would get you into an F250, I know a few blokes with them and no complaints other than turning circle of a kenworth. Tune and exhaust turns them into a 4tonne missile
