Good daily, plenty of go and if standard quite comfy. Seats are very tight, specially in the Jap cars. I find any more than a hour on the highway and I have to get out to stretch the legs.

Fuel is about 10L/100, but the tank it tiny so it feels like you are constantly putting fuel in it. Get about 400k's to the tank if just driving around, if fanging it in the mountains about 200k's to a tank.

        As for which one to get 9 > 8MR > 8 GSR > 7 GSR.

9's and 8 MR's are practically the same car, both had the SAYC which can split torque 70/30 left to right compared to the old 60/40.

7's and 8's are practically the same except for slightly larger turbo on the 8.

Aussie 8's are all GSR's, all MR's are imports. Can't import a 9, only ADM ones available. All imports came with factory HID's but are supposed to be removed during compliance. There are a couple of RS's around but they are stripped out base rally cars and come without AYC, seam welded chassis, no brembo's etc. Personal imports only. ADM cars have wider seats too.

6 speeds are fragile, as are the transfer cases on the 9's. Diffs are also problematic if not looked after. Need the AYC fluid changed every 20,000k's or so. Rebuilt diff is ~$2.5k and rebuilt transfer case is ~$1.8k.

All ADM 8's and 7's come with 5 speed which is known to be very strong.

They eat clutches if you like launching it. They do launch REAL hard though, bit of slipping the clutch and its like a slingshot.

They need the timing belt done at 100K too, parts are only a few hundred, but it's a bitch to do as there is SFA room to work on it. Rather do a Skyline or Zed any day.

There is a lot of info on the net, get on evolutionoz.net. Quite a few car noobs, but they are ok. Heaps of info on model differences and where to get parts.

I haven't looked at prices for a while. Mates 7 cost $22.5k with 65k on it (going back a few years now) and was practically mint. At the time you could import a ok-ish 8MR for the same money. 8's are the most common evo here now, should be easy enough to be picky, there was only a handful of 7's for sale when I was looking and the 8's were high $20's to mid $30's, these days easy knock of 5k or more depending on condition
