haha... its 1998.... so is that in or out?

so whats the story in ACT i just rock up with it fixed and a receipt from the owner then what?

i know couple people down there who i can be the registered owner for a day or two until i transfer it back etc.

i picked it up real cheap so its not like im taking a big risk but its a real tidy one only done 128k it just seems too good to part out.
As for the suspension its only the arm and its not even bent much the wheel base is about 1 inch shorter on that side, they drove it home

Hi Roger, nice name change. You sure you haven't fixed things that weren't broken before mate? Maybe you're just not trying hard enough :rotflol:

Shonky mechanics often send out cars that aren't fully fixed and sometimes they'll even have the balls to charge for parts that weren't replaced. Quick someone call ACA/TT!

Cops/swedes/car enthusiasts/whatever it doesn't matter, the lazy rorting shit cunt bottom feeders give the rest a bad name.

My understanding in NSW is only the owner of the vehicle if greater then 10 years can repair a repairable write off now. This move was to stop the swedes buying them all up cheaply at auctions and doing dodgy fixes.

fix the control arm and indicator, buy the cheapest BMW you can & weld in the piece of metal with the clean chassis number. make the cheap one 'disappear' and then you have the real good one to sell to some unsuspecting rich cunt

In case it was not abundantly clear, this is not a scam by the insurance company and there is almost certainly a reason that it has been written off.

Yea it is just another days work for the repairer, they quote the insurer asses the quote they approve or write off. The repairer tries not to upset the insurer otherwise they go to your competitor and the insurer tries to keep the quote cost down but keep your excess up as in the purchaser, it is just routine and the cars are faceless as the insurance call centre ladies deal with the end customer. The only time it varies from this is when customers complain or dispute or winge (or when you bring a car to a repairer for a claim which usually means it's your preferred repairer).

Cheaper to pay out and get money back from salvage. I remember Southo posting about the cost of some parts and the fact you had to use new parts for certain things back when he was in insurance, would a control arm be a part that has to be a new one if so like dyno said there may be other parts that require replacing, cost of new parts compared to pick a part 2nd hand ones and the fact they have to provide some kind of warranty on the repairs may deem it not worth the cost/risk
you cant spell advertisements without semen between the tits

If the part is available it has to be new and oe, you need permission to use second hand parts and after market parts.

Some e36 owner was companion an exterior door handle was $900 from BMW Australia.

Sure a repairer could use used parts for those but if they had to use genuine new for suspension repair I can only imagine the arse rapage on price here.

yea well i guess if thats the case it would soon rack up ( having to use all OEM parts etc) Looking into it even in ACT it looks like it had to have been an ACT car to start with and they want all sorts of crap from the assessor with pics and details and huge list of shit.

Shame its easy a $10k car if its all fixed, i wouldn't use it... ragtop auto so its a girls car but the wife looked interested. I only paid $1200 so its parting out, anyone after a set of M3 wheels and a full tan leather interior, how about 2.8 engine only done 126K?
