    Tritons do.

VWs have it changed here in Australia at Patrick's. Although, a few slip through.

        Thread from the dead!

Are iLoad's and Hiace's still the pick of the bunch? No love for El-Grands?

Basically, I need to get a van or caddy for 2 of the staff who will be on the road visiting sites, carrying photography/video equipment.
Even though I love VW, not sure I want the resale of the Caddy, hence the iLoad vs Hiace in diesel flavour considering. No cruise control sucks though for long drives!

I have no experience with vans, but I would anticipate you'd get a better deal on an i-load than a hiace as you'd avoid the usual Toyota tax.

              iLoad everytime over Hiace

My biggest regret in business is buying VW vans, not because they were bad, but changing business circumstances meant selling early, which meant major burn.

3 months ago I went with a friend to buy an iLoad, low K Diesel autos hold there value incredibly well, 2011's with around 70'000kms were fetching $25000+ at Pickles

              Still love mine

Edit:Back in 2011, the iLoad was the same price as today ($38,990). Today expect a median resale price of the 2011 model to be $28,450, an impressive retained value of 73 per cent according to redbook.com.au.

That's the highest retained value of any van on the market.

In other news on the carsales website they have a video 400m test of the diesel auto and it runs a 16.7 which was the fastest all the vans tested haha

Mate of mine who has a mobile mechanics business recently traded his Hiace for an iload. Rates it as a much more comfortable van to drive and be in all day.

GTREA, wouldn't be possible to retrofit an aftermarket cruise control system?

The Hiace is a long way behind everything else. Forward control vans just don't cut it any more.

Yes, the NSW Govt Iloads have aftermarket cruise fitted as std.

I have just purchased a 2011 iload turbo and its just great, drives really well, comfy takes a good load much nicer
pretty much in everyway compared to the Toyota I had. Only downside is two people have told me that they have
had some pretty serious issues with theirs. But I would guess that 2 out of 3 vans are iloads so must not be too bad.
Just cross fingers it dose not explode.
PS really shines on a country run and mine has cruise control.

Nice! Did cruise come from factory? or did you fit it after?

I absolutely love my T5 transporter (the first gen with the 2.5L I5 TD). The thing drives brilliantly, very car like, handles well, very comfortable and built really well. That said it has stung me on parts and labour costs for a few failures (AC compressor died and the ex manifold cracked). For what you want the iLoad would be pretty hard to go past.

Major sticking point right now for me, is getting a child restraint anchor point fitted to the front centre seat. Apparently it can be done but they've all said they don't know for sure until they have the van. Looks like a dual-cab ute with a service body on the back, is back on the agenda.
Isofix? It will be legal here soon.

We are eating up the Fiat Scudos where I work. They are almost half the price of a Hiace, there isn't a contractor in our fleet driving a Hiace anymore tbh, why would you? Can get a Scudo onroad for 30k at fleet price, turbo diesel with plenty of grunt. We have had them for about 3 or 4 years and they have been quite reliable. They have the odd thing break here and there but that's to be expected, they are company vehicles driven by company drivers.

I only do the CBD and valley so I managed to talk them into getting me a Fiat Doblo. I love it, 1.6L turbo diesel, hauls major ass and gets 6L/100km doing genuine CBD driving. Costs me $50 a week in fuel now, it's unreal.

So yeah, before working for these guys I wouldn't have even considered touching a Fiat but they've won me over. Really nice to drive, the Doblo is basically like driving a car.

I've run into 2 guys that run Iloads which have required turbo replacements. Not actually sure what went in the turbos, sounded like the exhaust wheel had sheered off on one of them.
