I always figured if its above 50-60k, you cant afford to ask if you can afford it.

C63 - what do they cost to own?

I'm interested in impressing me, not anyone else. I'm in Darwin ffs, if you want to impress here you buy a new hilux and cover it in chrome shit.

Ps where did I ask if I could afford it?
I'm asking how much maintenance cost to expect, not whether I can afford it

You tend to turn over your cars every few years right?

There is probably some really expensive stuff that could be a problem on older cars, hopefully that won't happen to you. But if you have $3k pa in the budget that should go a long way towards it anyway. The rest of your budget looks pretty generous.

I got 13k km out of my rear tyres. Fronts still had lots of tread left in the middle but the edges were shagged due to lots of skid pan time. If you don't go on a skid pan this alone would probably get you to 20k km on a set of OE Continentals. The Pirellis wear MUCH faster and don't offer more grip so don't waste your time with them. The replacement 4 OE tyres was $1300 fitted inc a 4 wheel alignment from Tempe so plenty of room in your budget there.

Get a quaife from vivid in the US and a tune to wake it up properly. Total cost will be < $4k.

        Enjoy!

I completely agree with this well reasoned and intelligent post, because as me and cracka know the only two factors in automotive pleasure are straight line speed and price.

Well said mate, how much of a poser is the OP and his fancy pants European car. AMG must mean 'A Massive Gaylord' or some shit

whats a C63 worth in any other country?

Case in point. Is what it is, is it worth owning one in Australia? questionable.

Depends if what it costs is a lot of money to someone.

how is that relavant when we live in Australia. the dude can obviously afford it so whether its 20k or 200k what the fuck difference does it make its half the price in the US. GTR's are 90k drive away in the US but I'd sure as shit still (will) buy one here even though they are twice that price new.

60k in the US I know.

But the point is all owners have the same issue. The new price in the US has no effect on the depreciation of an Aussie one.

C63 ownership is as cheap or as expensive as you want it to be based on the way you drive it.

Is there a decent specialist that can service it in Darwin so you won't get reamed by Merc?

                                Nope, there isn't.

Will need to use the Merc dealer but would supply own parts.
