This is incorrect... unless of course you're talking about LHD specific parts (obviously not) or Infiniti badges.

Fair enough Most of the ones I've seen in traffic (ie, not at hella flush car shows) have been the complete opposite. I think if you kept it stock you wouldn't get hassled... no more than anyone in an 86 or whatever.

quite a bit of car for mid/high teens in reality especially compared to a local 350z
Correct, about $13k for an auto on the private market

After thinking about it a bit more, and after the clouds have cleared and I've stopped yelling at them, I reckon these (if kept pretty stock and auto) would actually be a pretty decent first car.

              :D

a manual base coupe would not be a bad thing (not a fan out auto or cvt coupes)

maybe add dem brembos and shit

strangely there's a few around where i am and they're already turning into shitters (ie, shabby paint and loose trim)

I don't think you can judge grey-imports by what you see from a distance, though; they don't always put the best of loving care into good paint & trim work when fixing 'em up to flog here.
Soft roaders represent an excellent compromise between the needs of the hardcore 4x4 user and the convenience of a city hatchback. Its clear to see why they have become so popular in todays society.

                        Thanks in advance
He will bin it at some stage, suggest a 350z or something else locally sourced for insurance and smashie reasons.
                        That aside, nice cars

Nice cars. I'd only suggest making sure they aren't prohibited for p platers

Do they require 95-98Ron fuel? Could get exxy to run.
As long as it has a descent set of tyres on it it should be a good car for a new driver.

GM3800-II Commodes require 95 ... Holden didn't advertise the fact, but ownership makes it obvious.
Not a significant expense, in the overall scheme of things.
Stuff like brake pads etc you can get off places like eBay; that's pretty "easily available".

Only if he insists on conforming to the Skyline stereotype ... very few P-platers at my school binned a car, including the mate who's dad had fitted the 380hp ("GTHO PhIII Spec") 351C to the family 4spd XD Fairmont wagon.

Never clipped a gutter, parked it into something, went a bit off road or had a minor fender bender?
Most P platers don't write their cars off but a fuck load of them have minor bingles whilst being young and having fun with their mates.

I'm not suggesting he will put it around a tree
