As if that is even a concern these days. 10c / litre in it. Do the maths on 15,000km per year.

Compared to insurance, tyres, tolls, servicing, depreciation, the $200 or less extra it would cost per annum is nothing.

    That's 1 coffee per week!

An old bag turned right out of a side-street after looking directly at me, while I was in Mum's car ... hit a car-chasing black labrador in my first car despite crossing nearly onto the nature strip on the other side of the road attempting to avoid it ... but none of that other stuff.
Did single-spinner chew-up the wet/mushy lawn out front of a mate's house in Dad's XF because it wasn't going anywhere despite accelerating ... & in the panic over "geting bogged" it didn't occur to me just to reverse down the hill onto the tar ...
Soft roaders represent an excellent compromise between the needs of the hardcore 4x4 user and the convenience of a city hatchback. Its clear to see why they have become so popular in todays society.

Been seeing this for the last few weeks and thought of this thread:

Like I said, either he'll be responsible or he'll learn real quick when he's catching the bus because the car's bent/blown up/impounded.

Most P-plates at Uni on exxy cars were because Mumsy & Dadsy had bought it.
Mostly foreign students mind you (Mumsy & Dadsy had also rented or bought the penthouse in double bay).

I'm saying the argument against a v35 Skyline because it's too much of a car for a P plater is pretty invalid when there's a P plater driving an RS5 and the world hasn't imploded.

One of my female colleagues at work had a V35 Coupe. It was a silver six speed manual. I took it for a short drive and while I wouldn't call it fast, it was enjoyable with a nice V6 sound in the cabin. The console had a shitload of gadgets but the GPS and stuff was still Japanese so pretty useless. The screen doubles as a TV too but for some reason that din't work either. The seats were great (leather) , the rear seats would be a bit of a pinch for two adults but OK for kids. The gearbag was nice and the clutch not too heavy (light compared to the WRX) I seriously thought about getting one to replace the WRX but when I drove home after work the same day, I realised I'd miss the power of the Rexxy so I've still got it. I was a bit of an overconfident cunt when I was younger so I reckon if I'd had a V35 for my first car I might have let it go to my head and then run out of talent in some spectacular way. But that's just me.

A mate of mine who's a mechanic has two sons who have been driving performance cars from as young as they could do so legally. One had a lovely blue 2006 Sti (hawkeye) and never got so much as a parking ticket in it. His Dad instilled in them from a young age that there's a time and a place for everything and if you want to race, do it on a track not on a public road. Both his boys are very mature for their years, not all P platers are flatbrim wearing idiots.
