i think if you just removed point c you would be fine... theres no reason to go to cairns and no president has ever been set in going to cairns on any other round country trip

the only "rule" i know of, is you have to go past the GPO in every capital city bar canberra

No problem with lights on the roof rack, however and old rule used to state lights need to be in pairs. Apparently a strip of tape around the centre of a lightbar (thus making it appear as 2 lights) is ok..

It's different for each state - though some states may well the same as one or two others.
I know it used to be different for NSW and QLD years ago, I'm not sure about now though.

                Sorry for my confusing answers.

We have a roof rack where the LED if fitted to the front of roof rack, and then we have fitted a spoiler on the front of the roof rack to minimize drag and protect the stuff on the roof rack..

hope this makes it easier to understand ..

                    Foreign number plate?

Having been pulled over before in a LHD car with foreign plates, unless you're doing something really stupid, most cops will let you off with a caution as its too much paperwork!

By that logic I should put the UK plates back on the Jag & just drive it like I stole it?

                      No...

On foreign plates you'd probably get pulled over occaisionally "for a chat" and being held up on the side of the road for ages while the paperwork is checked will take up valuable time...

Actually maybe you should just bypass QLD altogether...the place has gone to shit lately anyhow...

did you have the carnet de passage paper work and the foreign licence to go with it as well?

Jan, I don't believe the stock headlights will have the reach you need in Australia. I'm not sure what sort of wildlife you've encountered in your other journeys but here they "yump!". OK.

I really don't think it'll cause any kind of adverse effect with the car to have a couple of decent spots (as suggested earlier) in the same plane as the headlights. They will help you to pick out kangaroos ahead of you and you can reduce speed to minimise the effects of a collision.

If you are not racing and sticking to the speed limits, I think it would be a wise precaution and improve your chances of success. If however you want something headline worthy, by all means hit a 'roo that you didn't see at 110kmh.

A moose or elk suspended on spindly legs just above bonnet height is probably barely less bad than a kangaroo; 'cos the moose or elk weighs more. From what I've read they're about as stupid, being startled while behind bushes & running onto the road in front of cars.
Soft roaders represent an excellent compromise between the needs of the hardcore 4x4 user and the convenience of a city hatchback. Its clear to see why they have become so popular in todays society.

I tend to agree Forg but I'm not sure you get flocks/herds/groups of them all crossing the road at the same time. Wouldn't you want some long range lights for a trip like this?? I farking would!
