I guess I wasn't intending to disagree with you about tha, especially not when it's so easy/cheap a precaution; it was more that I was thinking there are sorta-similar dangers elsewhere & that these guys aren't necessarily totally without any clue.
Soft roaders represent an excellent compromise between the needs of the hardcore 4x4 user and the convenience of a city hatchback. Its clear to see why they have become so popular in todays society.

I really want to see them pull it off as I think it would make a great film/show. However, the conditions in Australia are very different to Europe and while I don't think they're a bunch of noobs in a Datsun I also think they'd be wise to add a bit of equipment already mentioned here.

Decent bullbar (already off the cards)
40ch UHF CB (I really hope they follow up on this one)
Decent long range lights (mad if you don't)

Was actually thinking more of Canuckistan than Swedeland, with the elk/moose thing. But I don't know even what roads exist in the north of Canada, so don't know if they even could have driven far "up there".

landmark did testing with stock agents cars over a 3 year trial, and found no difference between having them or not..., they don't use them any more

If you take the advice and mount lights on the bull bar make sure you have that same number as spares. It is a certainty that at least one will get smashed and once you get used to them you will find it hard without. I would be using Hella Zenons if budget is not an issue, low power draw and heaps of light. Between roos, wombats, cattle and camels you want good lights. Where in Europe you might have had a light snow background out here the background is dark red/grey and the animals don't contrast well against the dark background.

There's also real-time weather radar links on that page so you can see where the worst of the weather is.
