+1 for cas/fuel pump. They like to fuck out at shit times.

Like in a commodore after you put a full tank of fuel in geh

Chuck a scan tool. if its black, wiring?

I had a similar thing happen on the freeway with an R31, wouldnt catch when it turned over but was fine when I got it towed home, then started getting more and more unreliable, turned out to be cracked solder joints in the ecu

Ok thread revival.... I picked up the Ute today and drove it back to Canberra...

However, i managed to get in touch with the previous owner who finally told me its happened twice to him where the ute died on him..
According to him, both times it happened when the aircon was on full blast, the ute would overheat and die....

Does this make any sense or is it possible?? I did not drive with the aircon on today just because i did not feel like getting stuck on the way home... however the aircon was on full blast when we took it up and it died on us.. it was boiling hot outside that day too.....

          Thoughts?

AU did have some fancy head temperature detection setup didn't it? Part of the marketing about it not killing itself?

yeah limp home mode, but when it's active the dashboard display tells you, and it drives just like it has a massive miss

AU V8 doesn't have Cylinder deactivation. I've never heard of anyone having such an issue before, but that doesn't mean there can't be a gremlin in the car causing it. Any idea what condition the cooling system is in?

It all "seems" fine??? Mrs Jones mentioned something about the coolant system when he sorted out the exhaust gaskets for me.. will check with him...

AU Doesnt have a Dizzy/Hall effect module or TFI Module. They run a 36-1 Crank sensor, and a Cam Sync sensor. When the Cam Sync Sensor fails they emit a high pitch noise, and almost sound like belt slippage.

With the a/c on the under bonnet temps will be higher and the motor will be working a bit harder. You dont know, whatever is playing up might be on the edge of breaking down everytime you drive it
