If they are charging $100/h that buys you 4 days of labor, considering it sounds like its a 2/3 day job with some parts and shit thrown in I think the quote is fine.

You want the cunts gone and the bill paid, having a heap of labor sitting with a car in the corner of your workshop that's been there for a month doesn't pay the bills, wages or rent. Its already cost you in your (or workers) labor, parts and consumables not to mention its taking up room where another new customers car could be.

Some of these workshops sound like cheap as shit places to store a car.

One place I worked for, the boss would bend over backwards to get the drawn-out hero work. He had no interest in the in-and-out service work.

No surprise when the stupid cunt nearly went under.

The drawn put work is just as good as the quick work, just bill it weekly or fortnightly. You need a combination of both to run a successful business and the number one key to success is customer service. To bad the auto industry has no idea on that front.

Yeah fuck that. If we could do services all day we'd be making bank without stress. But you can't exactly take all the servicing and send customers away who need head gaskets, engine swaps, etc.

Price accordingly and bang that shit out.. If youre making double/triple the labour amount, budget the time accordingly, why fuck around

Ive had a blower/fuel sys/tune/adjust speedo for diff gears done in 7 days; drive-in drive-out (MWS - Marks Workshop) service with a smile, the dude is a fucking boss, he's by himself + wife in the workshop.. Had a few cars in there at once, everything getting done quickly

GTR clutch done same day at WTF Auto.. who specialize in Toyotas.. And at the time it was Tristan & Adam in the workshop only, both are also general awesome cunts

Fuck it aint that hard.. Car doesnt go out the door, you aint getting paid, manage your business ffs

I don't specialise in anything, but if I didn't have a GTR box back in before lunch I'd be annoyed.

In the last 2.5 years I have done one engine and maybe 4 cylinder head jobs.
It is rarely I even keep cars overnight. Just lucky, I guess.

Thats fair enough, i definitely couldnt!

My point is even in performance workshops with 1 - 2 guys, you can still bang good shit out on time..

There are good business people and bad business people.

My personal lowpoint was visiting my auto elec guy on christmas eve to see how my rewire was going after 6 months to find him punching on the front lawn with a couple of guys because he couldnt get their VL started.

I can't do as good a job as him that's for sure. If I'm stuck and need to do it I will..
We subby out lots of stuff like auto rebuilds, diff rebuilds etc. Sure we could do em but not worth the effort or time
Specialist workshops generally turn out a recoed part faster than a general workshop that tries to do it all in house.
