Paid 36k for my metallic Challenger driveaway last year, base 4x4 manual with 10 year factory warranty.

    Value cannot be beaten

Skoda Yeti. But if sticking to Asian the new RAV 4s are good but a Diesel Kia Sportage would be my choice. Try one and I think youll be surprised.

Bought no pics a new Hyundai Sante fe 12 months ago, brilliant car, 7 seats 8L/100 and quietest and smoothest car i have driven. Very Impressed.

having driven a few of the work ones.. worst suggestion so far. yeah they'll tow and have clearance etc. but they're gutless and horrible in every way.

I have to admit I was mega impressed with the sorrento I hired in Canada. Very comfortable, went really well, had loads of features that were real features not annoying shit marketing people added on, and the fit and finish was of Japanese quality - ie nothing fell off.
It was more than capable for light to medium offroad stuff and has a centre diff lock (button) which made a big difference. I gave it hell for 2 weeks including failed dorifto action into a ditch.

I would say a Territory maybe the Kia above. Not sure how the Kia drives though? A Terry is a better drive than a Kluger though. I'd imagine for daily duties a Terry or the Kia would be a better option than a Challenger or Navara etc, yet tow well and have a bit more clearance + awd for slippy bits.

Territory 4wd system is pretty useless in mud/wet grass, have friend who gets them as work car and has been bogged three times I am aware of just in wet grass after rain.

New Santa Fe and sorrento are actually very good in slippery shit, read reviews of them thrashing the Santa Fe on the beach, for soft cock roaders they are not bad, and there are some duds, like rav 4 diesel that can't tow and cx5 that can't go off any pavement cos awd is poo...
