Thanks, don't know anything about distribution, certainly seems to be too many magazines on the shelves though, 'Race' does stand out fortunately with it's usually stunning and highly visable covers.Originally posted by Jim View PostCheapracer, the cost of print isn't the issue so much as the distribution is locked down so tightly here.
Find a way to distribute to the general marketplace and we may have something!
Anyway, consider to print some here and get them to a US distributor for nix, look at it as a separate operation maybe?

Good luck Jimbo!
Noted Neil's comments about online publishing. Curious if this is something you will pursue or keep it hardcopy? No idea how all that works, just interested.
Any thoughts of dedicating a couple pages at the back to 'in the build cars'. Maybe find a few/half dozen cars to follow their build? Considering the low-ish frequency of publications, might be able to do an update on them each publication in a 1/4 page each? Something significant occurs, make it 1/2 page etc.
Yes, i can see a million downsides to this. EG;
a) 'ooops, sorry, guy got divorced and had to sell the car. Won't be following this anymore'
b) 'ooops, sorry, guy got busted by the '05. Car has been seized due to proceeds of crime act. Won't be following this anymore'

Yep, will be keeping the hard copy for a few reasons:
One - I love a magazine. I love the look, the smell, the feel, the ability to pick it up in an instant and continue what you read a week ago, the ability to store it for years, share it with your kids or even give it to a stranger. I love how race magazine is kept in the national library records and is a little slice of history for all those in it. In fifty years someone will be able to go and pick up a copy and read it and that's kind of cool.
Two: it gives a little more credibility...it's harder making a magazine instead of a blog - much harder, it takes more commitment and it somehow seems more real. But I may be biased.
Projects - yes possibly. We really are interested in getting to know what people want to read about. The electronic version will be able to become media rich and get an international audience - print is VERY hard to go international...at least from Australia.I don't care a damn for your loyalty when you think I am right; when I really want it most is when you think I am wrong.

Awesome news. Noticed the new Facebook page on the weekend and have been buying it since early in the piece and glad to know it will be continuing. I might have to finally organise a subscription though as the local newsagent in central qld are useless (or someone else buys the one copy they get in)

You have the Australian motorkhana and hillclimb championship, but where is the Australian super sprint championship? Not worth covering?

up until now it has pretty much been Neil doing all the work with help from volunteer contributors.Originally posted by lightyear View PostYou have the Australian motorkhana and hillclimb championship, but where is the Australian super sprint championship? Not worth covering?
Congrats on the magazine continuing. I need to re subscribe.
If there hasn't been anyone available to write about any given event or championship then it doesn't happen.
Supersprint champs are on the list of stuff we want to cover for sure! Along with more IPRA and anything else we can get to.Turns out, far too much has been written about great men and not nearly enough about morons
