Yep, them's the ones which start at $13k on CarSales at the mo. The two older 300SEL's with the twin stacked headlights are (I think) about $30k & $45k. There's a W116 for $1500 which sounded really interesting (needs paint & minor rust stuff but good interior) ... but then very quietly in the fine-print of the description it says it's not actually a 6.9L.

great suggestion but that turbo upgrade is probably pushing the boundaries of period mods. but for 10.5k its in the ball park and meets all the other criteria.

Can you actually get an FJ (or FJ'd) DR30 for that monkey?

It might not be as interesting to you 'cos it's one of the first things you came up with ... but of everything listed here thus-far I think it'd be the most interesting to me ... I think the drifting thing came along after I'd been in too many Oz-delivered Sprinters (ie. two - which is at least two too many) to ever hold them up as any sort of hero-car.

            dr30's have bottomed out. There was rego'd a 4dr for sale a few months back for 3.3k and a 2dr for 6k.

4dr's are suitable for us middle class welfare junkies that have a few kids to cart around :D

i think nsw historic rego works great... if you have a race car that fits the period modification guidelines, that would be difficult to register otherwise, that you want to be able to take for a blat on the occasional club run...

either that, or you'd wnat to be a very active member of a very social club... on the whole, I'd rather spend an extra $500-700 a year on proper rego than force myself to be friends with people who happen to own the same type of car I do, but may otherwise be completely dull...

Shitbox DR's can be had cheap but to import a good one you're now looking at about $12k+, the auction prices seem to be going up

NSW used to be 'bolt for bolt ' original for their historic scheme, but then you'd see 13bT RX2's on Historic plates. I'd love a full group c style flared rx7 but I couldn't on ACT historic rego. Probably not even plain ACT reg.
