The head looks like it has two cams, probably gear driven.

Does it make 400hp without the electric motors?

How much does all the elec shit weigh inc batteries? More than 40kg

        Good question.

As mentioned above it'd be a scissor-gear drive to the other cam so as to keep the included valve angle shallow. Good chamber shape and all that sort of thing. The ports look very steeply angled which is also good for power but unfortunately makes for a tall head.

Given the advances in materials and electronic management, I don't find much to be impressed about at all here.

Formula 1 bans many materials, like Aluminium Beryllium, all ceramics inside the engine & etc. using materials like these would make the job of creating a mere 400 hp from 1.5 turbocharged litres, considerably easier. Nissan is fielding an unlimited vehicle in an experimental class, it is not constrained by the regular rules. Having said that, it is interesting to see what can be done outside the rules.

SR's in N14's used 0W15 or 5W15 didn't they? And that was a plebeian shopping-trolley engine (OK I have a higher opinion than it than that - but it's the way it was intended to be used by buyers) shoved in a hatch made in Australia nearly 25 years ago.
Soft roaders represent an excellent compromise between the needs of the hardcore 4x4 user and the convenience of a city hatchback. Its clear to see why they have become so popular in todays society.

Pulsar SR20 oil is 5-40 or 10-40. Something like that.

Its probably balanced for a start and won't spit alternators off the motor.

from what i've read about this engine, the car will primariliy run off pure battery power, and when it runs out of electrons, this will get it back to the pits for a recharge/battery swap without it having to limp around the track with a 50hp motor, which would make for a dangerous obstacle for the other cars. as it is part-time, lightness is essential.. its design runtime is probably under an hour of actual running (realistically, it'll probably only be used for 30 minutes in the race)

It's actually the polar opposite of everything you just said. I am genuinely astounded by how wrong you have managed to be.

Still no answer on whether the petrol motor is making 100% of the 400hp.. Or if its petrol hp + elec hp; just like the la ferrari and mclaren p1 advertise their power figures as combined hp
