What about a spare gearbox? Apart from the physical problems with carting around the spares is there anything you can't swap out on failure?
lutz? last year went through 3 or something?
This is a post i wrote by mistake, which is nice...

Edit: imagine trying to get a Barra short motor in Kentucky
Yeah I guess using a Barra engine would cause issues. Personally I'd use something I could get parts for in the US.

What about if you resurrected the old BloBak?

"Where can we get hold of a Vincent Black Shadow?" "Whats that?" "A fantastic bike," I said. "The new model is something like two thousand cubic inches, developing two hundred brake-horsepower at four thousand revolutions per minute on a magnesium frame with two styrofoam seats and a total curb weight of exactly two hundred pounds."

Unless he shipped it on a Carnet and it has to leave the country?

            I don't think a Carnet has a time limit
I own a two and a half litre Commodore

Maybe no time limit but that's a lot of money to have tied up, so maybe he shipped it back to release those funds.

Two years I hear, technically one year but can be extended another year without bringing the car back. This was in the uk/europe tho.

He needs to give me a ring

Actually, thinking back, that was through a broker who keeps roughly half. Basically he's insuring or bonding you on bringing it back

There are other restrictions, though. Car can't be sold in that country, you can't leave that country without the car,etc

To be on the level of Larson/Lutz etc is a huge thing, but I don't think doing it in a low 8 sec/165mph car would be thaatt hard/expense wouldn't be huge. Would be a hell of a trip.

the 30k is for the carnet aint it, not the actual shipping.

                              Don't mention the adBlocker !!

Apparently the US doesn't require a Carnet.
