Amen. Build car then enjoy the drive, drink beers relax.

I think you need to at least keep it interesting. A low 10 xr6t wouldn't be that hard to do but would be boring as bat shit to do. I reckon a eh ute gasser would be cool even if it was in the 12's (would need DF to sign off on the body style though)

Or Joes capri, thou i have NFI about what class it would fall in.

as for building one, perhaps a cortina TC onwards with a turbo barra motor, or perhaps your kit car motor in it.

idk, would be interesting to be amongst the yanks in a car so common for us imo, and plainly styled by their standards

Also if you go under 8.5 you need nhra full cage that surrounds the driver

10 second cars are still interesting. XR6T are boring as shit though.

I reckon something the ProBag Lada Niva would be cool (especially if it run a decent number) to do drag week in.

NFI but would a AUS spec cage for a similar time or speed meet the requirements, more so towards a car that may be doing that time/speed

soon as you run an 8.499 you are fucked need a funny car cage. The Capri would be good but fucked as it's going to need a cage, not sure if 6-point food enough may need 10-point. the good thing with the Capri is its setup for driving you don't need to make any changes apart from put chute on and pull filters off. The new tune is so economical, we went out a few weeks back was a 150-200km cruise, only used a 1/3 tank, 20-25L. It wasn't just putting along was given a hard time though only on 7psi which is maybe only 450rwhp.

ALLMTR is on the money you could build an 8-sec car for about $35-$45k, you need choose the right car and motor.. The Capri isn't big $, was built in 1988 something like $85k has been spent on the car to date, that includes 2 x 302W motors, 1UZ TT conversion and the freshen up of it. When it first started running low 8's people would look under it and laugh it's a 15 year old leaf spring setup, had Pedders shocks front and back, drum brakes (still is) ran 1.29 60's with that in it, spend $2k on front n rear shocks only picked up 1/100ths in 60' lol try and work with what you got and only change what is necessary

                        Final day postponed until "tomorrow"

Perfect, means it starts at midnight

Actually, I reckon that's a good choice. Similar enough to Gto to get parts but different enough to stand out. Toughen up the drivetrain (th400 and bad ass shafts) and Harrop blower or small single should get you into the 9's comfortably and reliably

McDonald brothers do a full bolt in nine-inch four-link kit for late model commodores. Get rid of halfshafts and CV's all together.

                              Even better.

Have any if these Harrop supercharger deals run good numbers?

Dunno about Harrop but the Magnusson does alright. Matt Smoors on the cover over the LSX mag runs nines. His new donk makes more power. We just filmed it on the dyno the other day at 902hp.
