I think there are a lot of non aussie delivered cars and UK cars here tho, they're at the cheaper end.
I've heard that sometime after 1979 they all because imports (as Porsche Australia didn't import turbos in the 80's)

yes he did (and I think for less than the one above) it was rose jointed, converted to coil overs, and varioram with massive brakes

Clearly I've missed the obvious - your 911 is gone now?

This one is a classic example, good car and has been for sale for at least 2 years. That would depress the shit out of me

Yeah the white car sold as it was at the right price point.

My car left the shed last Saturday. A bloke from PFA bought it site unseen. Drove it 1,000klms home and it didn't miss a beat. No great shock as I'd racked up more than 7,000klms on my set up but it's still good affirmation.

That car has been for sale for at least 2 years maybe even close to 3 I'd reckon. Well set up car but it sits in the line between club car and club member car if you get my drift.

That was my understanding too, but there seems to be quite a few aussie-delivered 80s' 930s anyway, so I think the reality might have been that it wasn't an official catalog model, but if you ponied up enough cash they would bring one in for you, and some ppl did. That would make the local ones quite rare.

            Hamiltons delivery was my understanding.

I thought 1985 was the last Aus del 930. The '86 onwards are all imports. Mate with the 993TT also has a '86 930 and its an ex Hong Kong import

                So...

You can pretty much import any car you like from anywhere, uptil 31-12-1989.

How much are 930's overseas ? I've been looking at older 911's and Boxsters at the same time.

Is there a better 1975-1989 version to work with ? I'd like something that would be at home on the track, looking at Prestige Motorsports and Carsales, is is reaslistic to get a basic 911 for $25-$27k ? Some stock and rego'ed.

needs some cleaning up and would perform leakdown test to check motor health before jumping but looks like a good base.

re: 930's the 85-89 models had the much better G50 five speed (the four speeds are strong but the tall gears and that lag make them a pig to drive in the twisties)

isn't the G50 in the very last 930s? (before the 964?)

                      IIRC 76 to 77 short bell 4 speed 915. 78 to 86 long bell 4 speed 915. 86 on G50. Or something like that /nerd.

Certainly 915 4speeds were still fitted in '86 to 930's

Is that a 964 turbo rear wing, bumper, lights? Is that shit easy to swap back?

no, knock off IROC front bumper/rear bumper/3.0 carrera wing,
about five bolts apiece to replace with better quality items either iroc or ruf or whatever (i would do), or original impact bumpers

I have a vague recollection that G50 was only available in impact-bumper 930 for just the last year (1987-88?)
