          Yup.
          Wow.

Trailering it back on good friday - I can fix it there, but with my reserves of spare time being what they are I'm taking the soft option.

          Re power already sorted.

A mate has a fully functioning n/a 7m plus 4spd auto he'll release for zero $ - including complete looms, eng & trans ecus etc etc.

It'll bolt in, with only a reworked trans x member, tailshaft and an efi fuel pump required.

Not the period appropriate triple webbered solution I was planning, but Simple and easy fit - will freshen motor of course.

That way I can stash the stock drivetrain, drive it around and slowly plan a more appropriate m series heart.

Thanks again to all the boys who so generously offered help, space, tools etc.

          Build/ resto thread to come.:-)

Right. So you're pretty much building what you tried to do about 15yrs ago but starting with a better base?

and here was me thinking this was to just get a good windscreen and those rare chromed side vents for the blue whale!!

Nah - re power is just practicality.

I'll get the body and interior perfect and repair the brakes etc so it's returned to perfect original condition.

Goal is to have it perfect and totally practical and then drive the wheels off it.

The blue one was always too far gone for a resto - this one is perfect for it.

2M or 4M (i presume) parts are really really hard to find. i was going to buy a shitter crown gt had, but it leaked oil like a seive, and find anything was a chore, so i went to a e30.

Historic rego? It's a pretty good deal in SA, mate has it for his Mustang.

Your car needs to be stock or close to it though - some "period modifications" are allowed depending on how anal the car club registrar is.

Did they ever make a wagon from these?

Is triple webered M motor reasonably straightforward?

That was the initial thinking, but triple sd webbers are still bloody expensive.

Cheapest and easiest option is the free 7m, but I'll get it over the pits with the 4m ( change the rad and chemiweld to limp it).

                            Then historic rego and 7m.

Can you do the webber thing on the 7M?

Did look at that, but easiest and cheapest for the 7m will be gtr throttles and a sprint 500 once the blue car is running.
