A proper crimp join negates the need for solder because it compression joins the wire strands to each other and/or the crimp itself.

Also you're better of buying new as we throw those stock billy's out and they cost shitloads from suby (cant get the same setup from after). If it were me i would just throw a set of billy's with pedders or eibach springs at it or a billy or koni coilover kit.

Marty please invest in a stand alone (cheap rode hot shoe mounted) microphone. Or use a bit more manual focus. Or buy some lenses with USM af motors. The autofocus clicking was getting pretty annoying.

First world problem but I had to find something to sook about.

Camera has one on it. Had to make a decision about sound vs image quality. Most workshops are pretty dark, and while we do have some decent 'video' cameras which do excellent sound with zero focus noise, they suck in the dark and make shooting an absolute chore. In this case i decided to go DSLR with a lens that was gonna be a tiny bit more noisy but look way better and this is some of the best looking tech workshop stuff we've shot and was a pleasure to shoot with.

SHoe mount mic was actually isolated twice from the camera body with rubber mounts so the noise is just whatevers being transmitted into the air then back in. I stopped noticing it after a while. Al was Lapel mic'ed externally for any of the longer shots, but some of the run and gun stuff was straight off the camera.

Castrol wanted to give us their oil and help us make the build happen, quite literally could not have happened without them. So i'll very happily use their oil, its the same stuff Al and Miles use in their shop every single day so i had no doubts weather it would be good enough. Totally find to give them a plug for all the support we got, and it meant 7 epic videos so anyone who has a problem with it probably just needs oil themselves.

Hey Marty OT for this build but I've always been curious about the Nissan March you guys had several years ago. How was it to drive and is it still getting around Sydney? I look into buying one every 6 months or so but they are VERY rare nowadays.

A guy who ran the Skyline forums bought it for his wife, it got tracked a few times and then i haven't seen it since. Really regret selling that car, but the money from it went into a camera that we used to make season 2,3 & 4 so i guess it was worth it, right?!

Sticker bombing wasn't us. We've done a few social expriment/pisstake videos but have been playing cars long enough to know turboing something from scratch is cooler in the real world AND online that sticking stuff to other stuff. Ps. Go buy a sticker from our website and stick it on something so i can pay for internets to answer this

A guy on their forums cracked the Daihatsu ECU map and also redesigned a megasquirt pcb because he didn't like the included one.

Thats the guy who bought our Diahatsu show car from season 3. He's a total legend and very very smart guy.

Kudos on the effort to pull together that mammoth build and film/edit the whole lot into a few hours of car build film that was also highly entertaining.

They are parked next to each other in my drive way and bring massive grins to my face every time i walk out the front door. Both have the "Al/AM Auto" touch and both are done exactly how i like, both are looked after and make awesome power and have their own special things. Practical wagon with good power and grip, or RWD convertible with an LSD, no roof, stupidly loud turbo noises and was built for almost no dollars. Love both of em.

When my 660cc black AWD turbo kei car is finished, i'll have the perfect 3 car plan
