Nerd hat on - it's probably worth doing a quick back calculation to determine how much fuel the 4A-FE is actually pushing through the system in that 1 second ignition cut then determining the size/volume of the exhaust to see if you are going to get more of a bees-dick worth of fuel in the fuel/exhaust mix pushing out of the exhaust.
You are probably correct in the conclusion from the video that an early 1990s corolla running the most frugal version of the 4A engine is not going make flames, but a carbied v8 or some 90s jap turbo car with a pig rich aftermarket ECU probably would work.Marvellous things so quickly get mundane

Completely unrelated to any discussion, but is the brisbane meet still going to have happy laps on light of recent events at QR? I'm planning on coming back to australia that weekend so I might as well take my Liberty out for a drive.

Been back and forth with QR for a few months, Perth were good at striking a balance between reasonable amount of leeway for some runs up the straight and keeping it sensible so people weren't going hard out for track laps. The cruising type thing really suits the event and the range of cars. Of course the success really comes down to how people behave on the track, taking it easy around the tight stuff then opening it up on the straight is a winner, power skids blinding 3 dudes in Corollas behind you and drifting into someones pride and joy isn't. Perth had a speed limit of 120kph which actually was plenty fast enough, on the straight it might have gotten over that a bit but not by much when there's traffic. Still plenty of fun and most cars either broke or people were done by the time the day was done.
