New MCM series - 11sec subaru build. Bald PFer content.
I feel sad I missed the turbo Cordia club. I think they were all pretty much dead by the time my friends could afford one.
The guy with the coolest/fastest car in my immediate group of friends had a Telstar TX5 Ghia. 84kW. There was one guy who had a 323 Astina SP with 92kW but that was completely out of our league and he was a few years older so it didn't count.
Kids these days don't appreciate how shit most of the cars in the 90's were!
I was going to say I am sure Cordia's are scary (never owned or drove one) but true self lane changing fear is in the drivers seat of a stock, let alone boosted, TX5 turbo. My old man gave me one as a loaner for a couple of days when I was around 18 and having work done on my car - hilariously killy.
Telstar/TX5, 626 and MX6 were all the same car so all equally as ridiculous with the torque steer.
I will never forget being taken for a drive in the Hyundai Sonata getting around Brisbane with a 4G63, T3/4, etc back in the day. That thing required absolutely no steering input to change lanes. Foot down, you're in the next lane. Was ridiculous at the time.

No kidding. In 1997ish, there was a vast gulf between the new cars available at the time (even $20k ones) and the sort of stuff you could buy with your $3-5k from a part time job (Geminis, early 80s Civics and Corollas, VB-VH Commodores etc). I don't think the gap between a new $20k car now and its $5k 10 year old equivalent is anywhere near as large.
Your lucky, my first car choices were the shit cars of the 70's when I was 18 and on a good wicket of $15k a year on a cadetship.
So it was old shitty Datsuns for me......

I thank Macca's for making me affluent enough to be able to afford a VP Commodore Wagon, but I definitely did my apprenticeship in Datto's. Old man was also in the car game so plenty of variety coming in our driveway, it's why I like cars.
Cordia turbo was theee car in highschool. all the sick wogs had them, and the first time i saw one blow away a V8, i was hooked.
I'd buy one.

Not sure if i have broken the YouTube algorithm or something but ive seen nothing but Skoda ads on MCM for about 3 weeks.
Some kid singing in a Kodiaq....oh well i guess its a change from the 3 years of Mazda Ad's.
skoda have been going off tap with the adds everywhere of late... or maybe it's because I have been watching a lot of TDF and they are the sponsor in AU.
.... because every driver experiences the destructive potential of the effortless surge of power available through the smallest of body movements.
