Far as I'm concerned, if you walk onto the track like that then it's your fault if you get clobbered. Even if the other guy tries to hit you.

I know a guy who races litre cars but has also had a few runs in Sprintcars. He reckons if anything getting off it completely would make the car ride up higher on the track ? That's why Stewart stabbed the throttle to pull away. I've never driven one but it makes sense I guess...

Agreed, but I guess what everyone is thinking, is that a nascar champion should have the skills to avoid said guy.

I think its probably more to do with Stewarts past exploits as a bit of a loose cannon that has made people think he's done it deliberately.

agreed,I used to know/work on sprint cars years ago with my old man and they are cunts of things in general to control and and right pedal is as good if not better than the steering controls.
right foot should of stabbed it down hill/left,no one means to run over a fellow racer not mater what the circumstance.

Yup, you wanna turn left you get on the throttle, would have been an 'instinct' reaction to try to miss the guy methinks.
You cannot swing the arse end left, it ain't gonna happen in a sprint car, they are very carefully designed to make turning right very difficlut, if the driver reckoned he was gonna hit the idiot on the track the 1 & only thing he could do to try to avoid him is hit the throttle to pull the car down.

yeah he punched on with someone over parramatta speedway track because he didn't win and blamed the track or something similar.

Yeah, but the bloke didn't run towards anyone else as they approached.

And by the comments of the PFers who have driven these things, it sounds like you have even less directional control when you're pottering around at 4/10ths under yellows.
