The only thing more disappointing than a Vantage is a DB9. One of my favourite cars of all time and it was such a let down.Originally posted by Captain_Slow View Post+1 on this. I did one of those supercar drive days a few years back and the Vantage was the one car that disappointed. It felt heavy and ponderous compared to other stuff driven on the day (including stuff that should be its direct competitor ie 911 and R8).
R8 V10 on the other hand was tits. Quiet and pedestrian. Then floor it and fknwoosh.Originally posted by Jack NicholsonJust when you think you've seen all the retardation humanity has to offer.....

I reiterate:
What you want can't be bought you need to build it. Al is your man for this.Originally posted by richzx View PostOk this is easy.
1. Buy BMW M3 V8 manual
2. deliver to Al at AM Auto
3. pick up 3 weeks later with turbo fitted
4. do skids until tyres fall off 2 minutes later
5. get new tyres fitted
6. be happy.

Where is the decision? RX7 with a LSX would be a serious contender, anyone priced a conversion using a good donor car to start with? More than $50K I guess but if done well resale could be pretty good. In the all round performance stakes what V8 coupe would be better and if done properly would be a pretty cool car to own.Richard's DatsunZ lappin LakesidZ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=47OSh...&feature=g-upl

Or LSX a RX8, under $10k for the donor if they have a rooted rotary.Richard's DatsunZ lappin LakesidZ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=47OSh...&feature=g-upl

The only guys i know who have had Aston's have gotten ridden of them because of electrical woes. You hear a few blokes complain and perhaps they were unlucky but looking on forums it seems it's common for them to not work very often.Originally posted by Morgs View PostI think Vantage was mentioned a few times, I don't mind spending that much coin for the right car but they don't float my boat for the compromise (the compromise of spending more money).
If I was to compromise, doesn't have to be 2 door, nor V8 nor manual... so really it could be any fucking car?! The idea was a nice daily, which fits the profile as per the brief and creates genuine excitement. Thoughts for today are either to reconsider a R35 or just keep the status quo and buy a toy with which no fucks are given for road manners.
I just went for a burn in an Audi RS4 B7 supercharged with water/meth cooling. Farkin Whoooooosh!
I was there to hear the exhaust as i'm in the market for one. I had a cammed V8 Calais that i thought had a pretty rawish sound, nothing compared to this thing. Popping, cracking, full blown DTM race car sound. Unbelievable. It was like having headphones on with pure exhaust sound without any drone or feeling like your head was getting crushed by sound.
He had the valves in the exhaust and when closed it was stock sound, middle setting was closed until 4800rpm then the always open setting. Definitely 'office' friendly and good as a daily.
Power wise around 350kw atw.
