I reckon an 8.04 around the Nurburgring ain't too shabby. Same time as a Honda NSX-R.Originally posted by 260DET View PostJust a reminder that when the R8 was released Audi had a day at Lakeside with a pro driver. His lap times were not competitive with a significient number of other road registered cars of the Japanese ilk. And I'm not talking about disguised racing cars either.
Yeah, there are quicker cars out there. But they hit the balance well on driveability and speed.Smug elitist wanker since 2013.

... plus the goal, given the thread title, seems to be more to do with involvement & looking good & V8 soundtrack than speed. You can barely use the extra fasts in a 911T over a Veloster on the road these days, let alone the difference in fasts between an R8 & a GT-R.Soft roaders represent an excellent compromise between the needs of the hardcore 4x4 user and the convenience of a city hatchback. Its clear to see why they have become so popular in todays society.

OK, so performance is not the main goal. Pray tell what is.
Doubt that a Honda NSX would be very quick around Lakeside either. One was written off there a fair while ago, crashed at the Kink.Richard's DatsunZ lappin LakesidZ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=47OSh...&feature=g-upl

I don't know that it was; however, I think there might have been some attempt at justification for why he's not bought one yet.Soft roaders represent an excellent compromise between the needs of the hardcore 4x4 user and the convenience of a city hatchback. I think he can do better than 2 out of 6
If you read back, I also advocate that you completely forget about the straight line fasts when you go up mountains as it's blood brilliant through some twisty stuff.
