My mate with an '08 big engine 7 series was told many thousands to install a tow bar. Ended up having one made and wired for only a couple of thousands although not "engineered". Just a heads up in case E60 is in the same boat.

      Hahaha.. classic.

Funnily enough you mention the V36.. I'm already sizing up my next car, I figure I'll want to spend around 15/16K in about 18-24 months - this is my current list:

      E60 530d
Nissan Skyline 370 GT type SP (/whatever the 4 door 3.7 litre one is)
      Lexus LS430 vvti 5sp

      >The 530d kills em on fuel consumption, the known issues are well documented & can be fixed if not already.. I actually love the styling of them.. (were these a bangle beemer?)
      >LS430 would just go and go and go and go and go and get pussy
      >Skyline would be a bit different, would have the most balls, would defo use the most fuel though.. would be the newest out of the 3 too. (they're all imports aren't they?)

E60 was the perfect embodiment of the Bangle Mangle, there was much moaning when it replaced the E39.
Soft roaders represent an excellent compromise between the needs of the hardcore 4x4 user and the convenience of a city hatchback. Its clear to see why they have become so popular in todays society.

Strangely enough I think it's kind of aged well..? Better than the 7 series at least..

They're a classy looking rig, inside and out.

This is the one I'd go for if I were buying right now - it's been up for a while, has come down from 19k.. although I like the silver the best, I'd settle for the blue as well. Always preferred cream/tan leather to black for some reason..

I reckon you'd get this for a shade over 15k if you went to look at it, knew about all the known niggles and factored fixing the ones that hadn't been addressed into the price.

Major Service has been done (apparently..) and is a 2007 (most are earlier around this price point, even higher)

              160kw, 480nm @ 1750-2750rpm, 0-100 - 7.2 (new), Combined 7.5L / 100km..

              Yeah, cool as fuck.

It would seem you and I are in the same boat and have a similar taste/needs in a car, aaaaahhhhh the choices i must say as soon as i showed the nopics the beemer she was sold hahaha! I like the styling of them too way better that the 3&7. I will also be buying in 12 months after USA trip is done

As I mentioned above, if you combine:

                  160kw, 480nm @ 1750-2750rpm, 0-100 - 7.2 (new), Combined 7.5L / 100km.

With the luxury quality & styling then I reckon they definitely quality as a "hidden gem".

edit: The swirl flaps are the main headache to deal with, but they can be removed/fixed and there is quite a bit of doco getting around on them.

                  http://www.bmwforums.info/guides-how...irl-flaps.html

Get one, remove flaps (lol), remap, win @ life caning fucks in your luxury oiler that makes you look like a well-off cunt for 15k, all the while using as much fuel as a hyundai.

OK the lowdown on the towing capacity is that they WERE only rated 2000kg here.
Felt about a billion times more stable pulling the Commode + trailer than the 4WD utes I've been in that've been towing something way more within their "tow capacity".
The 2750kg tow capacity is from the UK & Europe, and is just uprated springs & shocks.

With 480 nm it will tow fine, not quite as powerful or economical as the Chrysler but pretty good just the same.

folks neighbours had a 530d m sport and they loved it

only got rid of it becuase of end of lease and the guy sold it to another bloke he met at the petrol station when bloke commented on how good it looked (these people don't have kids so never had kids in it)... i went for a ride in it once and it had some serious power

he now rolls round in a C4S 993 911 and his mrs has a 328i

I has a new 300 with C level trim. Heated and cooled seats, heated steering wheel and cooled/heated cup holders are amongst the myriad of stuff it has in it. Didn't look at a Commodore (not a fan of the styling and interior but worthy of this thread) and the $25k more Falcon G6. The Falcon had a steering wheel.

The 300 drives like a new version of my first Valiant. I like it but it's seriously not for all tastes.

Way better off driving that around, if you tow stuff, than any gerlytruk.
