Out of sheer curiosity, why did the aircon have to be changed around? Evaporator behind the glovebox?
Mad skills, cool job.Originally posted by myshortyboombaI've had many gauges in cars. I always found the conrods react faster than a gauge.
you can always hear them when they break and they stop the engine immediately so you can't do any more damage.

The fan on the OEM one was right where the pedals had to go. Was easier just to get a new all in one unit.Originally posted by Fraud View PostOut of sheer curiosity, why did the aircon have to be changed around? Evaporator behind the glovebox?

Well finally the gearboxs for the steering arrived. I mentioned earlier that having a keyed shaft was not desirable so I ripped apart the primary box and got to work machining the OEM lower steering column shaft to fit the gearbox.

And made the mounting bracket. The OEM steering column will be cut shorter and welded to the bracket. The OEM splines obviously still engage (basically I have deleted the collapsing part of the OEM steering column and put the gearbox in its place).

Both steering wheels are direct drive 1:1 with the one on the left being the slave. The connecting shaft is the weak link as it will have 50mm long 6mm keyway's.... if steering direction comes down to muscle the dude on the left will lose as the keyway will shear but at this point in time it will be irrelevant as the accident will already have happened.
the adaption of the lower OEM shaft into the gearbox is to maintain OEM steering integrity (minus the oem collapsing column part).Don't mention the adBlocker !!

dude on left would be the driver trainer, he would only be fighting the driver due to imminent crash..... crash will happen a long time before the keyways fails (on paper the keyways are strong enough in shear that they would be more than OK for the primary column (wheel to rack) as well but I don't trust engineers and their fancy calculators (those cunts just push paper and have no idea of the real world).Originally posted by Shonky.
