CR: Bit of a cunt of a company to deal with though, (unless presumably, you're a big dollar motorsport deal). They couldn't give me time nor day when I was inquiring about this exact situation.
The boss deals with Crankshaft Rebuilders on a daily basis, for weird custom stuff.
They are ALWAYS batshit busy & if they think you are just wasting their time, they won't want to know you.
Front up with some $ & they'll be interested.
Their work isn't cheap, but it's top quality.
Thought PAR had their gear cutting at least, done in Malaysia now?
Got a Cosworth crank a little while back for a couple of grand landed due to not a popular model and on a runout sale. A balance shaft delete one.....no idea how Porsche run their's, or if you're running it - that could add substantially to the cost if you are and probably reduce the choice of manufacturers!
The crank wasn't fully counterweighted, they did run pressure and scavenge stages out of the sump, probably helping with any crank whip, which might be applicable in your failure. I see Arrow precision does the same crank with all throws weighted but for about triple the cost and external pump - for yet another option.
That aluminium pulley has way too little meat through the back and tiny radii on the fillets. Id use huge fillets there and if you can't do that then make it from steel.

Hard to front up with money before discussing options. Pay a deposit to fill out a questionaire lol.
I'll give it a crack and see what they say.

Being a big i4 the stock Porsche 944 2.5ltr came with balance shafts. We still have them on our current motor. Debating to remove them from proposed 16v build but get varying opinions on this. Big 4's have ugly harmonics.

The broken one in the pics is too frail and no radius. The new one that Paul hurridly made on the same day is obviously thicker with radius, but yeah, seems like Steel is the go. Having said that, the crank pulley is steel. Clean snap on that too. Don't know yet why all this happened. Making some guesses that it started at the rear of the car with either failed CV, buckled aftermarket torsion bar carrier delete bracket thingy, or really out of round tyres due to fuckup during shaving, heat cycling process. One, some or all of the above might have transmitted some ugly vibrations or harmonics up via the gearbox/trans tube...

If I had the $$$$$ I would buy 2 1for my car and the other to display in a glass case as they are pure crankshaft porn IMO
crankshaft rebuilders are nice guys, i used them for machining heads a couple times. they are just around the corner from my folks in blackburn. old school place overflowing with engine parts all over the place.
Spoke to Cranky's. Looking at circa $5.5k I think the advantage of using a 'local' company is being able to send block, rods etc to them also. Assuming that is better to do than not?
On balance shafts GM had the option to use them they also had the option to use even fire cranks on the chev V6 nascar engines they opted for strength and used full odd fire cranks with no balance shafts and reved them high and won many cups.
