Top idea to coat your lungs with milk. Helps with the Gal poisoning bad a poor side effect is that you drown. :knock:

Milk is to get the metals out of your body.
Metals are not readily dissolvable in water. They form chelates which are deposited in fats (hence the milk).
Same for the heavier metals, but you need an injection of the chelate formula into your butt cheek.
Zinc breaks down and leaves the system naturally quite quickly.

        tl;dr
Don't breathe anything that isn't air.
Lots of minis & mokes including a G13b powered Sports Sedan, a couple of Swift Gtis, a Goggomobil, Porsche 928S, Polo Gti, BMW 540i, a WRX and a few others.

The hobbyair systems are really cheap for how often they would save you cartridges from BOC.
Side effect is that they dry the heck out of your lungs and get in the way

Bloke I worked with had a Speedglass setup... Upwards of $2k or more I think!! My helmet, on the other hand... $75 lol

However... He's also an epic boily.. I'm an absolute noob! Funnily enough getting a new (if cheap) helmet made an awesome difference to my welds... Being able to "see" your welds, and therefore work it properly turned my beads from pelican shit to actual welds :D

I looked at Speedglass. Price ranging from 1700 to 2600. Too much. Arranged to borrow a fume extractor on Monday before I weld the next 90 or so flanges.

Just have an industrial fan set on high six inches from your workspace.

Makes a huge difference. Boss was helping me set up a job... Looked through the helmet I was using and said "fuck me dead you can't weld with this shit"... Went and grabbed me a Renegade helmet (cheap but all I need lol) and said "give this a go".

Being able to see the puddle and its relationship with whatever you're welding is great.. As I said I'm a noob: 20 years as a leading pressman and I swapped over to boilermaking maybe two months or so ago. It's a good feeling.... Starting with some bits and pieces and building stuff Wanna learn to Tig as well and build a few things for my cruiser (exhaust/snorkel/airbox etc).

At very minimum, rig up a ladies hair dryer, on no heat, low flow, into a length of 2" diam flex hose/vacuum hose, steap hair dryer to youpa belt, at your back, and run the hose up under your shirt pointed at your chin, the airflow up and into inside of helmet will keep gasses out, head cool.

Even if you prep/grind the gal away from welds area, the heat still cooks it out leaving the white powdery residue.
if you get this far after reading the above, good on you!
If i make spelling mistakes, syntax errors, or just mss letters in words, it is because i am lw vision/vision impaired.

Yeah I wanna learn TIG as well. I learned to weld years ago using an oxy on auto steel, so I reckon I could probably riddle TIG.

                              Tack? No
Weld? Yes. I use a rotator. Best piece of machinery I've ever bought.
Shame that after I've made it sexy it gets hot dip galvanised.

Jesus it's not that difficult. Just a fan to pull the fumes away from you and out a door or window is enough for part time welders.
